It would show if its the service pack or not as
well of course. if it won't run when run from the folder you put it in then you
have a service pack issue.

What service pack does that machine have? I seem to
recall like on XP certain older installations of it have compatibility issues.
You need to install the latest service pack I believe. Luckily I never did
bother with Vista myself so never encountered this, but I had to use sp3 on
XP.

I am given to believe that this add on is not approved any more, either use an older version of the Firefox program, or you have to hack about in the advanced settings to turn off approval certification.

That sounds to me like a missing or corrupt video driver. As a temporary workaround, you could run the NVDA installer and make a portable instalation. Then use the portable instalation to check the status of your drivers and once that's fixed you could re-install a local copy.

Re: installation failure

Your problem may be caused by UAC. I believe
the command in Vista to allow changes to be made when UAC asks is to use the
command alt c. That is not the command used in later versions of
Windows. Run Narrator and then try installing JAWS and NVDA to see what
you hear. I believe you will hear the UAC dialog and I would expect you
will hear, or can tab around to find, the correct command and it's short
cut.
Also, I saw here recently that NVDA cannot be
installed on Vista unlessI believe it's service pack 3 for Vista is
running. but I know nothing about that except what I saw in a message from
one list member. Whatever the case, if you run narrator first, you should
be able to get information about how to continue installations.

I'll also point out that the instructions for
opening the add ons interface in firefox are incorrect, should you need to do
so. The instructions on the site say to use alt t then press enter.
That is wrong and people who write instructions especially for publication
should try them to make sure they work as described in case their memory is
incorrect or they made a mistake they are not aware of. You use alt t then
you type a to get to add ons. You don't press enter at any time. You
are now in the add ons interface.

Or am I doing something wrong.
Hello to all. Last night I tried to reinstall webvisum, as I have just baught a new computer. When ever I press the install link, the notifaction to allow firefox to install the addon comes. I've tried pressing alt+a several times, and I've tried pressing the space bar or enter when it seems that I'm on the allow button, nothing works. I don't remember seeing any other complaints about this from anyone, so is it only me getting something so basic wrong? Any suggestions? Ali

Re: Basic Training for NVDA - Official NVDA training material now available!
Hi, thanks for the fast reply. With this training material, I think trying to promote NVDA in a country like Thailand where most visually-impaired users still use Jaws should be easier as they would at least know there is a reliable training material to refer to, albeit in English, which may pose a problem for visually-impaired Thais who can't understand English well, but hopefully one day this material will be translated into other languages including Thai. Having used NVDA for a while, and having actually used it in real-world situation in the classroom, I'm now feeling confident to actually start promoting NVDA on a large-scale in Thailand, with the goal of it eventually replacing Jaws as the main screen reader for blind people in Thailand.

When I went to install UTorrent a few months ago, I didn't seem to have any difficulty unchecking the toolbars and the other extras manually, NVDA was able to read all the instalation screens without any problems. Cheers.
