Re: [win10] Accessible Tek Talk presentation on Windows 10 Anniversary Update: recording now availible

Hi,
There isn't a beta at all - when you use master snapshots, you are
effectively using live betas.
Cheers,
Joseph

Thanks. As I want to update as soon as, I grabbed the latest beta of 16.3,
and glad I have, as some of what you have mentioned below, especially user
account control, is important for me.

Hi,
When you use Anniversary Update today with NVDA 2016.2.1, the
following will not work:
* Toasts will not be announced.
* Browse mode in Edge will not function correctly.
* Start menu suggestions are not read automatically.
* User Account Control (UAC) prompt will not be read.
2016.3 will include fixes for all these problems, and Mick Curran from
NV Access is working on better Edge support.
Cheers,
Joseph

Hi Joseph, I'm slightly confused. So, below, you've mentioned that for
the most part, it will work to some degree. Does that mean, for most
of it it will work, or, does it mean that for most of it, it will
work, but things that used to be accessible, may not be? As I'm still
new, and can't even find where I'd install the updates right now, it might
be best to wait.
I'd
like to think that I can recover it, if need be, I still can't say
this about windows, as of yet.

Anniversary Update: recording now availible #WinTen1607

Ladies and gentlemen,

The recording from Accessible World's Tek Talk presentation on Windows 10
Anniversary Update is now available:
http://nvda-kr.org/files/winten14393.mp3

Note that this is the copy I have, might be replaced with the Accessible
World's version later this week. Enjoy, and for those upgrading to the new
upgrade today, good luck.
Cheers,
Joseph

Re: [win10] Accessible Tek Talk presentation on Windows 10 Anniversary Update: recording now availible

Hi,
When you use Anniversary Update today with NVDA 2016.2.1, the following will
not work:
* Toasts will not be announced.
* Browse mode in Edge will not function correctly.
* Start menu suggestions are not read automatically.
* User Account Control (UAC) prompt will not be read.
2016.3 will include fixes for all these problems, and Mick Curran from NV
Access is working on better Edge support.
Cheers,
Joseph

Hi Joseph, I'm slightly confused. So, below, you've mentioned that for the
most part, it will work to some degree. Does that mean, for most of it it
will work, or, does it mean that for most of it, it will work, but things
that used to be accessible, may not be? As I'm still new, and can't even
find where I'd install the updates right now, it might be best to wait. I'd
like to think that I can recover it, if need be, I still can't say this
about windows, as of yet.

Re: research add on?

Gene

There may be one but I haven't heard anything about it on the list.  Also, a Google search turns up nothing.  Where did you hear about it?  The complete lack of search results and of any discussion here makes me skeptical that there is one.

Rename them from .zip to .nvda-addon.

I doubt this is a problem with Windows live mail and since you know you have made the correction, I would say to just ignore it.  Not every tiny trivial problem is worth correcting.

Hi All,
First, I can not be sure of this, as I have not played with it, so if this is  normal, please forgive me. But, if it is normal, it certainly is annoying. But, in case it is not normal, here's what's happening.
I have installed windows live mail 2009, the one with the menus, on windows 10. NVDA 2016.2.1, I think. I have tried this with the acapella demo, and a few others. Now, say you're writing a message, and you make spelling mistakes. For example, instead of an  l, you write a k. No problem, you backspace. But, at last, when you finish the word, and,  press space, speech will say hekloo or helklo, or wherever you got the k instead of the l, instead of hello.  In other words, despite the fact that I have deleted k, the k is still pronounced by speech. I've not tried eSpeak yet, but, honestly, when I played with outlook 2010 a little yesterday, I can't recall outlook doing the same, and I have to admit, if it has, I'm pretty sure others would have raised it by now.
So my questions:
1) Is this a bug, or normal?
2) Is there some sort of a work around, other than changing clients?
Thanks!

You obviously downloaded them from another place to the one officially sanctioned. If you do trust them simply rename the suffix to the correct one and they should work normally. Brian

That may or may not be the case.  We don't know how you tried to use SAPI 4 in JAWS.  JAWS specifically has an item for recognizing SAPI 4 synthesizers.  Have you tried it?  I don't know if it will work but unless you have used this option, your statement is not based on correct procedure.
