Gene, why you answer to questions you are not familiarized?

Daniel, how big are the files you try to read in NotePad? I have tried with a 1MB file and it tooks between 1 and 2 seconds to start reading a sentence or phrase...

Subject: [nvda] Sentence nav: I can not read the previous sentence in some documents using notepad ++

Hi, folks!

There's something quite annoying going on here: when I try to read the
previous sentence on a document using notepad ++, it reads the current
sentence instead of reading the previous one.

Is there someone there having the same issue?

I tried to use notepad from windows, but sentence nav is too slow on it.
It takes about four seconds to read each sentence.

I have NVDA 2019.3.1 and last sentence nav's version available on githup.

Thank you so much!

Announcement: ending development of StationPlaylist add-on

Hello NVDA community,

It is with heavy heart that I announce that I’m stepping down from active development of StationPlaylist add-on, effective about a year from now. For the last seven years, SPL add-on grew from a small app module (developed way back in 2011 by Geoff Shang and James Teh) to one of the most powerful and recognizable add-ons out there. Developments in NVDA brought interesting features to SPL add-on such as concept of broadcast profiles, while concepts developed from SPL add-on are planned to be incorporated into NVDA such as add-on updating facility.

As I thought about what my life would look like in the near future, it has become clear to me that I need to let go of various things, including SPL add-on. Although developing the add-on was a fun experience and taught me many things, I need to focus on more important things, the most immediate one being getting an undergraduate degree so I can focus on graduate school in the near future. I’m hoping that whoever is going to maintain this add-on from next year onwards will upgrade the add-on significantly and make it more productive for broadcasters everywhere.

To ease this transition, I’ll stop accepting feature requests soon – I’ll announce this when that happens. I’ll focus on adding one or two high priority requests this summer (winter in southern hemisphere), then focus on bug fixes and needed changes for the rest of the year. In March 2021 or 30 days after NVDA 2021.1 is released, I’ll turn off my transmitter i.e. no more SPL add-on releases from me (development snapshots will end in early 2021).

To everyone who provided valuable feedback for the last seven years, thank you.

Cheers,

Joseph

Change in CTRL+Backspace behavior in MS-Word, but not Notepad or Outlook

Konnie Ellis

Lately, when I hit the control+backspace keys to delete a word, NVDA does not announce the word I am deleting. Instead, it says “delete back word.”

I would much prefer that it says the word I am deleting, as it always has before.

I have also since tested this in Notepad, and in Outlook. Both of those are acting normally. They do not say “delete back word.”

If anyone can help me figure out how to set this back to normal in MS Word, please let me know. Thanks so much.

I also love 1core. It's very responsive, and does not freeze up on me and I love extremely fast, perhaps maybe once every half second or so, and no lag at all, especially when I have to make quick choices. You won't be able to hear it as I am using VAC but trust me, it's responsive. Maybe a sound card issue perhaps?

Blessings and happy Friday.

There/s just no accounting for personal preferences.

On my I phone I changed siri to a male voice.

It’s great to have choices.
