Re: WeatherPlus, adding new cities
Hi Vincent,
You must have an internet connection before you try this. Try doing the following.
1. Open the NVDA menu/preferences/Weather plus menu. 2. Move to the set and manage your cities item and press enter. 3. In the edit combo box, type the name of your city with either US state or other country's designation for country such as UK for United Kingdom or any other designation and press enter. 4. A list of cities or perhaps if you are specific enough only one city--hopefully, your location, will appear. 5. Choose the city you want and press enter. 6. Wait a few seconds or if sounds are enable until you hear a sound and then tab once. 7. You should see a test button. 8. Press enter or space bar on the test button. 9. You will either hear a sound and hear your screen reader give an error message or hopefully if you were close enough in your search criteria a city name with associated code. 10. Then use the tab key to move to either the add button--which will put the city in your list as a temporary city or tab until you hear preset--which will add your city to the current list as the default for your location and press enter.
Then you can go back in if desired using steps one and two of this tutorial and then when in the lis of cities, move to the former location and use the tab key to move to the remove button. Otherwise you can leave the former location as a temporary city if desired.
I have over 100 cities in my list for the USA and world. It's kind of fun playing with them if you have nothing better to do. I have the check box under settings set to copy the weather forecast to clipboard when I press the NVDA + W key for forecasts. What's the weather in Hanoi Vietnam?
In Hanoi vietnam, the forecast for today is scattered thunderstorms with a maximum temperature of 67 and a minimum of 64 degrees Fahrenheit. sunday 5 april scattered thunderstorms with a maximum temperature of 66 and a minimum of 64 degrees. Monday 6 scattered thunderstorms with a maximum temperature of 67 and a minimum of 65 degrees. Tuesday 7 scattered thunderstorms with a maximum temperature of 69 and a minimum of 66 degrees. Wednesday 8 mostly cloudy with a maximum temperature of 71 and a minimum of 67 degrees. Thursday 9 mostly cloudy with a maximum temperature of 77 and a minimum of 69 degrees. Friday 10 thunderstorms with a maximum temperature of 79 and a minimum of 73 degrees. Saturday 11 thunderstorms with a maximum temperature of 74 and a minimum of 72 degrees. sunday 12 thunderstorms with a maximum temperature of 76 and a minimum of 71 degrees. unknown, not available.

Yes, I have moved, so I would appreciate to retrieve up-to-date information about the weather. When I select "manage temporary cities" it seems I can only select in a list... with only one city (the current selection). No button to add or remove. In the "manage cities" settings, there's a simple text field with, again, only one line. No button to add a new city or search for one. There was a documentation in this menu before but it seems it has vanished. Am I missing something?

Actually in this case these links sometimes fail with jaws as well. In fact I've heard complaints that they often fail with jaws for some reason, the menues do not fly out like they should. Is there an add on for NVDA or a way to improve this in the core? Sorry if I'm using the wrong language, I do not code.

Re: Looking for An Antivirus software for my computer
Ibrahim, It is absolutely still possible to update from Windows 7 to 10 at no cost. See my step-by-step tutorial: Doing a Windows 10 Repair Install or Feature Update Using the Windows 10 ISO file
Note: The only difference between the steps to do a repair install/feature update on a machine that already has Windows 10, and an upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10, is that the steps up to and including kicking off setup.exe will occur under Windows 7. I also found the following page at Microsoft indicating that Microsoft Security Essentials can no longer be downloaded, but that definition updates will continue through 2023. What is Microsoft Security Essentials? With this message, this topic is now locked, as it has nothing to do with NVDA. If you wish to discuss this further please do so on the Chat Subgroup. If you need specific assistance with regard to my tutorial feel free to contact me using the "Reply to Sender" link at the end of any message I've sent. --

Re: Looking for An Antivirus software for my computer
Microsoft is still providing definition updates for Windows Security Essentials. If you are using Windows 7, you should be using that, not Windows Defender. The Windows Defender you could get for Windows 7 is not nearly as good a program. The Windows Defender in Windows 10 and I believe its the same program in Windows 8 is a good program. I would be very surprised if you can't get definition updates in Windows 8. As far as i Know, Microsoft is still supporting Windows 8.

It doesn't matter if you're going back from Thunderbird beta to release, or your machine dies, or you decide to change e-mail clients - with IMAP access everything automatically reappears when an e-mail account is set up on any device. This is not correct.
CDex has an analogue recording

is perfectly feasible as a recording

Check out the second menu

sampling rates etc.

CDex is
not a recording program. It is a CD
ripping program.
It really
isn’t a good idea for people, and I
see it when evber such a question is
asked, to recommend Goldwave without
first knowing what a person wants to
do. Goldwave is not free. It isn’t
expensive unless you don’t have much
money and you are on a tight budget,
but it does cost something like forty
or fifty U.S. dollars.
If you
just want to record and edit mp3
files, MP3 Direct Cut is a much better
choice. If you want to record and
work with other formats, other
programs would be used, MP3 Direct Cut
only works with MP3 files but since
many people just want to record and
edit MP3 files, the way the person
wants to use the program needs to be
found out before making a
recommendation.

Re: most accessible audio recording software with nvda
Look for reaper without peepers. I think it's on groups.io.
