Re: question regard skype?
Its also worth mentioning that everyone should get used to this because winaero has told me a couple weeks ago that the skype desktop will be the only one we will have from now on sooner or later.

Microsoft is going to be deleting skype, and skype will be going away perminantly at some stage. What that means is that instead of universal skype and desktop skype skype electron desktop will be the new universal and be managed from the store, so it appears with their use of chrome and its tech that they are changing to a more or less web interface for just about everything which is probably a good thing in the long run.

You don't have to worry about turning Bluetooth audio off - this add-on monitors if NVDA is active, and by active I mean speaking anything. Once NVDA is inactive for 1 minute or so, it will stop playing silence to conserve the battery life of your hearing aid. Not sure whether the same would apply to silencio.

I can report that I'm getting the beginning of most, if not every, chunk of NVDA audio output being cut off with my Unitron Moxi hearing aids as well.
I'll have to play with both the Bluetooth Audio Add-On and, eventually, Silencio. I would be careful about turning either one off when you know that you're going to be away from the computer for any length of time, as if you're within Bluetooth range of the machine when this is on it will keep the Bluetooth connectivity constantly in use on a hearing aid, and that does decrease your battery life. My aids are rechargeable, but it would be really irritating were they to run out of power in the middle of the day because I'd been sitting anywhere near to my computer, after having established a Bluetooth connection, and the "silent keep alive" stream were running them down. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Power is being told you're not loved and not being destroyed by it. ~ Madonna

When nvda keeps turning itself on any time another program opens or shuts
This started back in January when I had to install
nvda on 2 new computers. I use it but my husband is only legally blind so can
see enough not to use a screen reader. Anytime he's using the computer for
something he turns nvda off and if another program opens or closes, completely
unrelated it will start up and we need to shut it down again. Like today when
windows is wanting crap and he has to fuss with it's maddening.LOL. So as it
seems to be a new thing, at least for me, is there a setting called don't start
up until I start you up? LOL

When you say "the addon for Bluetooth to stay connected, ", do you mean Bluetooth Audio add-on? You're describing the beginning of every chunk of audio gets cut
off, that is indeed indicative of your hearing aid entering
standby mode too quickly. There is a program called Silencio, that
you might want to try, it is similar to Bluetooth audio add-on, in
the sense that it just plays silence and prevents bluetooth
devices from entring stand by. You might want to try to see if it
works.

Hi, Nope. I bet there’s something going on with the app you are using and/or the speech synthesizer not handling internal speech changes correctly. Cheers, Joseph

problem with Arabic multi-cell characters when inputting braille with NVDA
Ikrami
Hi, so I use my braille display to type using nvda. I choose the Arabic grade1 table as an input and output. Must of things works good, except for the symbols that contain more than one cell. For example, we have the Arabic comma is dot five, and the colon is dot five followed by dot two in the next cell. When I press dot five, it stypes comma, but when I follow it with dot 2, nvda says “unsupported input”, and does nothing. The expected behavior is that it should translate it to a colon sign. My understanding that if a symbol consists of more than one cell, and the first part of this symbol is identified as another symbol in its own, NVDA understands only the first part of it and ignores the second part. This also applies to the Arabic grade2 table. Most of the abbreviations give this “unsupported input” message when being written, although they are being displayed properly. I am using the latest nvda release. I hope you can help me in this regard. Thanks

A few things to add to David's answers... 1. To reduce the voice interraptions, From the manager press: Global settings > Messages settings A task (SpeakOn dialogue) appears There are two settings for messages and control spoken choose the ones to suit you. I recommend the current setting until you are familiar with the program. 2. It does require admin privileges and does the UAC comes up. If I continue to develop the program in the future this is something I would consider doing something about. Personally I find the UAC a waste of time because when enabled, it came up so many times that I got to automatically acknowledge it which defeated its purpose in the first place so I disabled it permanently probably over five years ago, I use Windows defender which does a great job, and I am careful with security and update Windows and apps etc and so far I had no issues. Of course this is my opinion and people might prefer to use the UAC. Regards Isaac
