PC Keyboard Braille Input does not work with older version of NVDA
Luke
Hi! I have recently downloaded the 19.3 and up desktop version of the PC Keyboard Braille Input add on and it works great. I have a portable version of NVDA on a flash drive and it’s version 19.2, and yes, it’s 19.2 and not version 19.21. I seemed to forgot to update to 19.2.1 before the big update. I went to https://addons.nvda-project.org/addons/pcKeyboardBrailleInput.en.html and downloaded the older version which it says it’s for 17.3 to 19.2, it didn’t work for me on the 19.2 portable version. When I went to Tools>manage add ons, it did show up in the list. Has anybody else had this problem? Does anybody know how to get it working? If no one answers I will email the creator of the add on.

OpenTween for Mastodon
I was looking through the OpenTween forks, and found a few branches that are working on Mastodon integration. Here's an accessibility overview compared to Twitter. I encourage blind developers to contribute wherever possible or fork the initial client. Since Twitter is cracking down on third party software, looks like Mastodon is gonna be a viable, immediate, alternative. I've included links below.

There is also a clear case to be made that supplying software without training, particularly for something as complicated as a screen reader, is a recipe for disaster. Clients will abandon that which they cannot use even vaguely effectively, and those of us "in this biz" have seen this more times than we care to count. It's also critical to direct clients to resources such as this very group as part of their training. There is no way that any trainer/tutor can ever possibly cover what any given individual will ultimately need to do with their screen reader. Our job is to launch the client with a solid foundation upon which they can build independently, but independently does not mean "alone and without any outside guidance." Knowing where to turn for assistance when you hit the inevitable, "How in the heck do I do this?!!," class of question is crucial. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Power is being told you're not loved and not being destroyed by it. ~ Madonna

I don't understand why people are still running XP and then actually expecting long term support? Never has made sense to me, at all. If you want some discounted computers, check below. ComCast essentials offers refurbished computers to customers, especially during their free internet giveaway. Computers for the blind lets people buy refurbished computers. United Cerebral Palsy foundation gives refurbished computers to nursing homes and people within supportive living facilities. And, you can always go to best buy, filter by specs than by price, low to high, and then buy the results directly from the manufacturer.

Has anyone investigated whether it is possible to

Hi, Zahra, why you don’t update your operating system and the NVDA to the latest versions to solve all your compatibility problems instead of asking support of the old software, you should use the new and fresh peace of software to avoid all the security risks

hi joseph. as i mentioned in my emails, i only need two or three fixed in newer versions of nvda for backporting to the supported versions of nvda on xp. and i promise that my request does not cause nvda crashing or unresponsiveness in any version of windows! my requests are only specific for firefox and contains important fixes which i am sure benefits everyone.

Its not officially supported on the nvda community but the latest version seems to be this.
https://github.com/albzan/eclipse-nvda/releases/download/0.6/eclipseEnhance-0.6.nvda-addon
Its supposed to work at least its description says it does.
