Re: NVDA Systematic Crash
Gene
It may be better to just let NVDA crash, then start
it again. You said after the first crash, it works properly. The
crash won't hurt anything, it will just mean you have to run the program
again.
it sounds as though NVDA is trying to run before
something in Windows has loaded that an add-on needs to load. If you want
to use all the add-ons you have, as I said, it may just be better to let NVDA
crash. If you are trying to solve the problem because you are worried
about harm being caused, you don't have to worry. Some problems are better
left as they are.

Simple answer. I don't have office on that computer. In fact I don't use office at all, have not since 2009. It is faster for me to either do it via command line, or via site which I have open all the time. That is by choice at least fo rnow. Sarah Alawami, owner of TFFP. . Jabber with NVDA
Marquette, Ed
For those of you who do not know, Jabber is a very accessible (now) soft phone. For the most part, it works great with NVDA as a telephone. I, however, have trouble reading and responding to Jabber chat messages. At one time, there was an NVDA add-in, but it didn’t help much with chat functionality, and now, I cannot find it on the NVDA add-in site. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: NVDA and Excel problem
I'd check on NVDA's GitHub Issue Page to see if this has already been reported and, if not, report it. Tossing something like, "Excel 2016," or, "Excel 2016 dropdown," in the Filters edit box, after the already pre-populated "is:issue is:open," should find you any issues related to Excel 2016 in general or Excel 2016 and dropdown boxes in particular. If the issue already exists, I'd add a comment to it stating exactly what you've said here. If it doesn't, then opening a new issue as a bug report is the way to go.

If i open any drop down list and select any content from list, after that NVDA stops speaking after pressing down right left arrow or tab. It becomes speakable again when i switch program using Alt plus tab and come back to excel. Another issue sometime NVDA stops speaking in excel without above problem. Switching focus back to excel required Thanks

This add-on does nothing by itself, you need to download and install SpeakOn Media suite for it to work. More information to enable you to decide if it might be for you is provided towards the end of this message. About a month ago there was an extensive discussion on this mailing list about SpeakOn Media suite as part of podcast and books readers related threads. The SpeakOn MediaSuite home page where you can find more information including links to the download page and mailing list is at: http://www.speakon.org.uk/SpeakOn.html The NVDA add-on is a convenience or a necessity depends how you interact with SpeakOn; you can use a Standard keyboard, a numerical keypad or a touch screen. Books made of individual audio files as well as playlists are also supported * Written books: epub is supported as well as plain text. * PDF is not supported * DRM protection is not supported Regards Isaac Isaac Porat SpeakOn developer

Work Around For Excel Latest Version With NVDA And New Interface for File Importation
Ron Canazzi
Hi Group,
I had requested some help on several lists as to the new more graphical data importation interface within Excel latest version. It is very graphical and neither JAWS or NVDA works well with it. The work around is to use the 'legacy wizard system.' To do this you Press alt + A for data, tab once to the list of choices, press enter and then arrow down to legacy wizard and press enter. You get a choice of several. Choose the desired legacy wizard interface and the old dialogue type interface launches. There are a series of associated hotkeys to accomplish this, but I haven't memorized them yet. When it gets to the application of multiple hotkeys to the level of 5 or 6, I find it almost easier to use the ribbon interface to navigate to the proper item. ...Oh for the good old days of menus and dialogues! -- They Ask Me If I'm Happy; I say Yes. They ask: "How Happy are You?" I Say: "I'm as happy as a stow away chimpanzee on a banana boat!"
