Re: Release of add-on applicationDictionary
Hey, just a minor correction in one of your statements. I like the idea of the add on and will give it a glance later, however, ruee, you said "By instance." what you mean is "for instance" as in "for example." hope that helps for next time. I've seen this bug. Sometimes it happens where you have to move to the link but most of the time 99 percent of the time I just hit enter and it just works just like jaws. Re: Reading commands that work (for Bryan)
Grant,
I will let someone else jump in if there's some clever way to read only what's currently displayed on the screen (or would be if screen curtain weren't turned on) because I have no idea. You find a specific command in the quick guide via searching, whether that's browser find or NVDA find. And browser find is invoked just as it is in Notepad, CTRL+F, and NVDA find (where applicable, you have to be in browse mode) is NVDA+CTRL+F. After you've done a regular search, F3 can be used to find the next occurrence and NVDA+F3 for an NVDA find. Stick a SHIFT+ in those if you want previous instead of next. The fact of the matter is, no matter what software it is you're making the change to use, at some point it's worth the tedium of doing a quick run through the entire Quick Keyboard Commands documentation, once, for two reasons: 1. To pick up on the terminology used by the product. That's how you know what to search on at a later point in time. 2. To have heard, once, all of what's available. Although you may not remember the details "at the front of your mind" it's amazing how often you have the, "I believe {thing X} was talked about," sensation and are then able to find it after a couple of tries with what you think is the keyword/are the keywords you need. NVDA is compatible with all the major supported browsers, so if you don't like Chrome, you can try Firefox, new Edge, Brave (which I recommend, if you like Chrome, just due to its ad-blocking and security features), or any one of a number of others. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Science has become just another voice in the room; it has lost its platform. Looks good. I think it would be helpful, and relatively easy, to add an "Application dictionary" option within the NVDA menu, within Settings -> Speech dictionaries. The gesture is fine, but requires people to read the docs before they can use it. Rather than it just showing up where they expect it to.

NVDA and Pontes Media Downloader
Fresh Start <dan@...>
Greetings all, I am not sure who recommended Pontes Media downloader. But hit is been awesome. however, I have been having a little issue lately. I am using version 3.0. 1. How do I get Pontes to empty the table of past url’s? 2. 2. Sometimes when pasting the url from youtube into the url field for downloading, then tabbing to the download button and pressing enter on it, the file doesn’t always download. 3. I go back to check the url field and find it is empty. But one more shift tab back there is a list of past download url’s. 4. I tried copying and pasting the shortcut listing with no luck. NVDA will read me the first column but not what that keystroke does in the second column. 5. How can I get the complete table to copy to the clipboard to paste into Word and save. 6. 7. I have had great success with Pontes. But lately, It takes a few times getting the file. I am went through the program options and think all is set right. I genuine thank anyone for some directions. I send a song out with each of my daily devotions and rely heavily on the awesome program… Blessings in any of

Re: NVDA list accessibility

Hi Bhanu,
With NVDA, when you press insert + F7, you get a list of all elements--not just links. Back tab once after invoking this keystroke and make sure that 'links' is highlighted. Then when you invoke the key stroke and use first letter navigation to highlight a link, when you press enter, the link will activate. On 4/30/2020 2:12 AM, bhanu computer

Maybe not... By instance, I have a profile for all mail programs... If I put something in a specific dictionary for that profileit will be applied to all mail programs and that can be undesirable....

Sorry folks, it was, as you realised, a glitch from our end. I meant to post about it here this morning, the correct post is of course: https://www.nvaccess.org/post/nvda-2020-1beta1-available-for-testing/ Also while I'm here, I put out an In-Process today, talking a little about that, and a few other things: https://www.nvaccess.org/post/in-process-30th-april-2020/ Please do let us know of any issues you encounter with the RC. (I'll make a new post for that so please reply to that thread to keep it neat). Quentin.

Re: Release of add-on applicationDictionary
Ralf Kefferpuetz
It gives you a speech dictionary for each application you’re running. As an example you have the speech output “Mark has joined the meeting” within Zoom. I want to replace it to “Mark joined”, but only in Zoom and not in other apps. So when you are in Zoom press shift-NVDA-P and enter the dictionary entry for the Zoom app only.
Cheers, Ralf

I think you can do it with NVDA+V. It doesn't use intuitive screen layout and items are stacked one after the other. I may have confused the shortcut.

Reading commands that work (for Bryan)
Grant Metcalf
Earlier this month you sent me a couple of commands
and a suggestion that I use the NVDA+n h q commands to access keyboard commands.
I figured out that I needed to turn off the numlock to get somethings to work.
However, What is the appropriate command to read only the current screen? And,
how does one find a specific command in the quick guide? I am basicly a Notepad
and text file user. Unfortunately, I am having to learn how to use Google
Chrome! Also, I will probably have to move from my preferred win7 PC to my
win10 PC as well. At the moment Grandpa DOS is not the happiest camper.
SMILE?
Thanks for your help!
