Hi all!

 

Just ran across something a few days ago when I installed the latest nvda update.  I’m a winamp user.  When you hit s for shuffle or r for repeat, you should hear “on” or “off.”  It doesn’t say anything but “off.”  Weird!  I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling winamp.  I always get the light version.  I’m guessing there haven’t been any updates since 5.63.  Radionomy hasn’t done anything with it as far as I know.  Maybe I’m wrong and that’s the issue.  Anyway, like I said, it’s a pretty minor thing in the grand scheme of things but I just wanted someone to know.

Re UI Automation, it's basically a different way for NVDA to get the information about where the focus is and what is happening in Word.  Not everything is available using UIA, although there are some things available that way which aren't available using traditional methods.  Unfortunately it's not something that we can "mix and match" to get everything - we have to use either all UIA or all traditional methods.

For now, for most users, we feel the original way still works best, but UIA is there either for people who want to try it (probably developers) or for those who need to access something only available using UIA.

I'd really like the sapi version but the only way I can buy the usb version is via a uk site and its a lot of cash round 600 bucks for the thing plus gst.

I really just want a download of infovox sapi only and a key.

While I could buy it for nvda I really want to use it for sapi output.

The command control alt n, the command used to start NVDA will restart it, but I would think there are times when it can't, depending on how it freezes.

Nothing happened when I tried it.  I don't recall which browser I tried it with but there was no error message nor any response.

According to the FAQ on that page:

It can be done with NVDA's speech dictionary.  You'd need to use a "regular expression" (regex) to avoid having enter every possible combination of numbers.  Actually another way (since I haven't ever sat down and properly learned regex, and I haven't fully thought this through) I just tried, is to make a speech dictionary entry to change "." (period or full stop, no quotes) to "dot" (d o t, again no quotes).

how this would be done with the synthesizer software.  If there is a
synthesizer that has this level of control that won't hit my wallet
too hard and actually has a real sounding voice, I'd be interested in
going that route if it's my only option.
