NVDA+F8 is indeed a command and it opens a list of the currently active tabs in a browser window. I have a home and work computer, and it works on my home computer and not my work computer. It does not work with Internet explorer, but Firefox is the only other browser on my work computer.,

RIght enough Gene - "COM Registration Fixing Tool". And yes, that's what I would have suggested trying as well.

Re: Problem with NVDA while reading documents
Quentin Christensen
Hi Vaibhav, Can you please give more information about what happened here. I can't quite follow / replicate what you have done. Firstly which program are you working in? Initially I thought maybe Word, but SHIFT+TAB doesn't change documents in Word. CONTROL+F6 will switch between open Word documents, or ALT+TAB will switch between open windows (from any program). You can use SHIFT+TAB in File Explorer to move from the file list to the folder list, which you might do if you want to move to another folder of documents? All of those things worked just fine in Windows 10 / Office 2016 / NVDA 2019.3 for me just now. Also you said NVDA kept talking, what was it saying? If you could email that information with a full copy of the log to info@... I can have a look for you. Regards Quentin.

Vocalizer Expressive Driver
Andrea Sherry
Using Windows 10 64 bit home.
NVDA 2019.3.1. Have installed Vocalizer driver/voices. Each time NVDA loads I receive a message from Vocalizer that my credentials cannot be verified. It says to check where my email ans password have been entered correctly. Have done this and it is correct. The screen also suggests that I am using another person's software or that I am attempting to use Vocalizer on more than one computer. This is not correct. Went to the Vocalizer site and downloaded the driver 3.14 I think it was. However when I attempt to install I am told thqat this addon is blocked. The only driver addon that works form me is a version (3.10) which I installed with an earlier beta. Is there another driver version I should have and if so where is it? Andrea

Number and Abbrieviation Processing
Gary
I don't know if this is two issues or one and if it's something that
can be done within NVDA. I use the Windows core voices synthesizer, although it occurs with the Microsoft SAPI synth as well. I do not want dates or abbreviations to be processed. For example, the latest version of NVDA, 2019.03.01 is read as "March 1, 2019" instead of "2019 dot 03 dot 01". Additionally, I am hearing hello.pl as "hello dot place" instead of "hello dot p l." Obviously, I know I can use the dictionary to teach NVDA to read "pl" as "p l" but there seems to be dozens of these abbreviations. I look at software versions all day so the first example is driving me crazy. Is there a way within NVDA to say ignore date processing and abbreviation processing? I definitely have been unsuccessful finding how this would be done with the synthesizer software. If there is a synthesizer that has this level of control that won't hit my wallet too hard and actually has a real sounding voice, I'd be interested in going that route if it's my only option. Thanks in advance for any guidance. Gary

Re: List of Tabs "NOT Available Here"

The reason for doing that is to try to find out if
the problem is with Firefox or NVDA.

Could you please share this address so that I can subscribe to this list too? Searching for Groups.io Groups and Their E-mail Addresses 1. Navigate to the Groups.io main page. If you get a warning about logging in, this will not be necessary for what you’re attempting to do. 2. Navigate to the Find or Create a Group link on that page then activate it. 3. In the search box, enter the search terms for the group you’re trying to locate. I recommend being too specific as far as the number of search terms. If you get nothing back, remove terms one by one until you do. For example, if I use the two search terms NVDA Add-Ons, I get two groups back, the NVDA Add-Ons group first, and the NVDA group itself second. 4. Review what’s come back. Each group returned is, like in most search engines, presented as a heading, under the initial heading “Publicly Listed Groups.” You can use the H quick navigation command to review the results. 5. When you find the group you are looking for, activate that link that is the heading. 6. There is a heading on the group main page entitled “Group Email Addresses” you can search for that and find the list underneath it, or you can use the “cheaters” method and use a screen reader search on the @. The first and second occurrences of the @ on the page are generally the posting address and subsequent entries are the subscribe, unsubscribe, etc. Once you find the subscribe address, just copy it and send an e-mail to subscribe to the group. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Power is being told you're not loved and not being destroyed by it. ~ Madonna

Re: NVDA froze
Gene
You can try running another screen-reader and then
shutting down NVVDA in the Windows Task Manager. However, I don't know if
doing so might, at times, freeze the computer where it wasn't before and thus
making an improper shutdown necessary.
While improper shutdowns usually do no damage, they
can on occasion.

I updated to NVDA 2019.3.1 a couple of days ago and while responding to an email in Outlook 2010, it froze and did not respond to any key strokes. I ended up shutting down the computer and restarting it, switching to another screen reader to write this message. I do not know if a log would help pinpoint the problem. What other workaround might there be to restart NVDA and get the keys moving again? Cordelia

There is no NVDA f6 command. You are using a
browser command, f6 to move from pane to pane or to different structures in the
program. Just use F6.
