Re: MathType equation reading
Quentin Christensen
Good afternoon, We've had a look into this and found there is a problem with Math in Word using NVDA 2019.3. We're working on a fix. Regards Quentin.

NVDA2019.3.1 with new Driver Vocalizer menu doesn't show
Gerardo Corripio
I installed the driver Rui shared with the list, to fix the autolanguage switching problem reported, hoping that it’d show the Vocalizer Menu option within NVDA 2019.3.1, but no go! It’s installed OK I think; when I startNVDA, it says that It needs at least one voice to get the AddON to work. I installed the Portuguese and Spanish, as well as the English packages, but still no Vocalizer menu shows, nor does it show the Vocalizer engine when going through the synths with NVDA+Control+s. Any hints what’s going on?

Re: Punctuation Symbols Changing Pronounciations
David Ouimet
Hi, If you want your symbols and punctuation changes saved I would make a backup of your symbols.dic file.
For any who want to know how to change the sound of a punctuation or symbol on your keyboard using your symbols.dic file do this. Go to your c:\user\(username)\appdata\roaming\nvda folder and rename your symbols.dic file to the txt extension. Then for example type ! exclamation mark on a line, then press enter. On the next line type ' apostrophe and so on. Remember the tab key is between the symbol typed and the sound of the punctuation or symbol you want to hear. Instead of hearing bang for the exclamation mark you will hear exclamation mark and apostrophe for tick. After making your changes save your symbols.txt file back to symbols.dic and everytime you press those keys you will hear the new names you changed them too.

Re: Restoring default speech dictionary and symbol pronunciation?

Hi.
There is an option in the Symbol Pronunciation dialog to restore to defaults. It doesn't exist for speech dictionaries, though.

First, find your user config directory.
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
To get there, go to Run (windows+r) and type: %appdata%\nvda if you have an installed version, or find userconfig if portable. Now, I'll explain what's what. In there you have speechDicts. Delete that and your speech dictionaries go away, or you can go in there and delete individual ones for voices or the like. The other file in here important in this case is symbols-en.dic. These are symbols for English. Delete that and they'll be reset. Restart NVDA after you do this. There really should be an option in NVDA to reset both of these, but there isn't.

Re: Visual indicator of NVDA cursor location?
Yes, there absolutely is.
Prior to version 2019.3 one can use the Focus Highlight Add-On. See: Focus Highlight on the NVDA Add-Ons Page. This functionality appears to have been pulled into the NVDA core functionality as of 2019.3. If you open NVDA Preferences, Settings, Vision and tab over into the pane you'll find the Focus Highlight functionality there, with checkboxes for what you wish to have highlighted. NVDA+N,P,S,V then Tab over into the dialog. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Power is being told you're not loved and not being destroyed by it. ~ Madonna

You can delete all the speech dictionary
files. There is a folder called speechDicts. In my portable version,
it is in the userConfig folder. It may be in that folder in the installed
version as well. Open the folder and delete all the files.
I don't know how you reset symbol pronounciation to
the defaults.

Visual indicator of NVDA cursor location?
Luke Robinett
When I am sharing my screen with remote colleagues via Skype or I just have a coworker looking over my shoulder as we work together on something, it’s hard for sighted folks to follow along with me because I’m not using the mouse. Is there a way to enable some sort of visual indicator of the NVDA cursor so sighted people can follow along as we navigate?

Carlos
Hello listers Is the NvSpeech Player addon still developed? More importantly, is it compatible with the latest NVDA? If so, kindly provide a direct download URL. Sincere thanks Carlos --

Well, you're still running Windows 10 Version 1809, which is a problem to begin with. Get yourself updated to 1909 - pronto, and see if that makes a difference.

Hi Don, I never used Vocalizer with NVDA, but I have it with Jaws. I know Vocalizer has a good selection of voices. I leave the Acapela synth settings on their defaults, so I haven't modified them at all. Acapela, like Vocalizer has really good sound quality & is very good to work with. I don't go really fast with the speech though.

Re: nvda not routing correctly?
Nvda f5 did nto work. IN discord I got taken back up to the top of in this case my general chat. I went somewhare, then hit nvda shift m. I did not hear it repeat what I was routing to. I checked and the curser had not moved from the edit field. This tends to happen mostly in web interfaces but I've seen this in OBS, and even prepared. Sarah Alawami, owner of TFFP. .
