Re: say all not working in nvda beta

Carlos

Hello:

Yesterday I commented on this issue and one of the moderators decided to shoot me down!

I was using NVDA 2019.3beta and I had to roll back to NVDA 2019.2.1 for these reasons that others are having with say all on it seems to happen on any program that uses say all command!

Just remember that moderators pay attention to these posts and if it sounds negative to them you will get a stern talking to like I did!

Hope that the RC version of NVDA 2019.3 will have these buffering issues fixed?

Sounds like a slower USB drive. It may also slow down if you choose to copy over your configuration. I'd wait for the process to finish. If you force it to stop, you may risk damaging your USB drive.

Has any one on the list when they have gone to do this have it take 5 or 10 minutes or longer? I thought it might of been this 16 gig stick been slow and the message still is not telling me it has been done.

But I was also thinking because you can not close the screen etc until it is done could maybe a cancel button be put into it if it takes this period of time to cancel the process.

It might of been quicker to make it on the hard drive then copy it across.

I can not stop the process unless i shut down the pc.

First impressions of NVDA 2019.3 beta 1

Christo de Klerk

Hello all

I have made a portable installation of the beta of NVDA 2019.3 to test it. I find it noticeably more responsive than 2019.2.1. It appears to be perfectly stable.

One issue I am having, is that nothing speaks in a command console. opened as Administrator. Would that be because the command console has been opened as Administrator and I am using a portable copy of NVDA?

The only other thing is that I miss some incompatible apps.

Kind regards

Christo

Firefox x schrome - differences while reading a webpage dialog

Alexandre Alves Toco

Hi, to make this test, I opened the amazona web site, choose a book and click the link to report na error in format or contente.

This opens a dialog.

In schrome I couldn’t read any thing.

In Firefox, I could find a combobox to categorize the problem, the editbox to describe the problem and so one.

Is it some thing expected or a nvda or schrome’s bug?

Re: Time to make a portable etc

It sounds to me as though the installation froze for some reason.  In such a case, I doubt a standard cancel option would accomplish anything, but developers may have a different opinion.  It would be interesting to try the installation again as an experiment.  Instead of a typical cancel option, perhaps something that actually stops the operation by using the task manager or some way of forcing a shutdown when you issue the cancel command would be a better idea, inn other words forcing a shutdown, not what I would think a typical cancel option does.  My guess is that a typical cancel closes the installation utility but doesn't force a shutdown.  But I'm just speculating and those with more technical information may correct me.

Hi

usually some of the drives USB ones and sticks are pretty quick. I ended up shutting down the computer after 20 or so minute It was a 16 gig stick formatted correctly.

Yet another stick may be very quick in less than a minute.

I do think in cases like this one I wonder if a cancel button could be put in or do you just grin and bare it until it is done? how ever long it takes.

Hi,
2019.3 is available in beta form at the moment.
Regarding recent updates: incompatibility is intentional - it was planned
for months.
I'll release Add-on Updater 20.01.1 which will advise you to turn off
automatic updates if you are using NVDA 2019.2.1 for now.
Cheers,

Hello group,
Today I have found out, that some addons are available. When I wanted to
download the addon Systrai list, Nvda said, that a new version is not
compatible with version of Nvda 2019.2.1.
When I wanted update Nvda 2019.3, I found out, that no update is available.
What can I do for I could have a new version of Nvda?
Is a new version of Nvda stable version?

Yep, takes about five minutes. NVDA will beep and let you know it successfully created the portable copy.  😎

Password agent

Marten Post Uiterweer

Hi,

I am using a password manager called Password agent version 2.6.3.
Nvda will not read tekst in the listview in this program, so it is
useless with Nvda.

I am also using Jaws and Jaws will read this list so I still can use
this program. Reclassing the window is not necesary with jaws.

Is there a possibility Nvda can be used? A specific setting in Nvcda?
Reclassing windows is not possible for as far as I know.

No, but you can go to flight aware's website, I think it's flightaware.com and track officially flied flight plans and cruse altitudes and routs sans sids and stars that way. Is this what you wanted? You can even fly those routs if you want to as well.
