But Brian, the problem remains that these enhancements mess up audio output of NVDA, especially compression effects, due to eloquence being a formant synthesizer, probably what happens is it compresses some of the phonemes at the beginning and end of utterances.

I really think it would be benefitial though. Audio effects probably were not designed to be used or to  enhance screen reader use. Also, there only a handful of companies producing the intigrated audio chips, and discrete cards.

Hello Joseph,

What I think would be extremely useful, is if microsoft added a screen reader flag or something that automatically would disable all enhancements for audio cards. Often I have read on many laptops that the control panels for disabling these aren't usually accessible. NVDA then could have an option to disable them when the screen reader is enabled.

This is due to enhancements, and computer putting audio card to sleep. Stable NVDA will enclude a fix for this, but until then there are programs etc to download to stop this behavior.

Hey Brian,

Not being able to register the words flashing on the screen isn't something I'm too concerned about. It's a changing visual that would give folks something to look at.

I'm guessing, like I said, that there's no way to do this?

If not, could anyone recommend something pretty/calming that I might loop... assuming I can even figure out how to do such a thing?

Thanks.

I believe the command is to kill a running process – not uninstall the program.

What is the problematic install?

Is Add Remove not working?

Sometimes programs include their own uninstall code in the program folder  it has installed into.

Some anti virus programs require special utilities.

Dear all,

Hope all are fine.

I am facing an issue with NVDA.

Suddenly NVDA stopped working and I tried installing it again.

After installation I am hearing jaws say NVDA is not responding and there is a blank dialogue box appearing at the center of the screen.

I tried re-installing several times after completely uninstalling but does not work.

Is there any solution to this problem.

I am using Windows 10 on 64 bit I3 laptop.

Thanks,

When you said you completely uninstalled nvda from your computer was that just from the area in the control pannel called program and features? where it was uninstalled.

If this is the case you might have to do the following when NVDA has been uninstalled from there.

Press the windows key + letter R then in the run dialogue box type the following %appdata% then press the enter key. You will be given a list of folders locate the one for NVDA and delete it. Then close that screen with the alt + f4 key.

Then go back and reinstall NVDA to your computer to be safe some times grab a fresh copy of nvda from NVACCESS then reinstall it to your computer.

Hopefully that fixes your problem.

You might need another screen reader to do this which I think you mentioned jaws but any one should do.

What is Unspoken?  Is it a new voice for NVDA.?  I like the 1 core voices very much, but I love to change to a new voice every once in a while.  I have lots of voices on my cell phone and each talking voice has its own personality even though it’s a computer voice.  Variety is the spice of life, I think.
