Re: Python Anywhere and NVDA

I think NVDA's built-in documentation is good to use NVDA more efficiently.

A lot can be said for other topics.

I just learned from people to turn on the computer. I saw everything after it from the Internet.

You can read a few blog posts that describe the CMD environment and will familiarize you with Windows.
Or a good book to keep going with a plan.

I don't think IDEs running as web services are efficient.

Because the codes are difficult to navigate.

I recommend getting used to CMD, Python Console and NVDA's cursor / navigation system.

Re: Bug with Windows 10 Clipboard History

Can this be replicated if you use a different keyboard?

I ask only because of how many "intermittently sticky" command keys I've encountered over the years as a computer repair person.  I'm not saying there is not a bug, but you should use a different keyboard, and preferably one you know to be behaving well, as a diagnostic step.  If the behavior does not persist, suspect your keyboard is going wonky.  And they can do this in stages where everything works fine then you have a brief period of "sticky command key" then it releases.  It's definitely not always an all or nothing situation, which makes it hard to diagnose sometimes.

Hi Kara,

Could you write down exact steps to reproduce this? What is clipboard history?

I am experiencing sticky Control key often, but I don't have a reliable way to reproduce this. If I have one, I might investigate this myself.

It only happens with NVDA. I don't have either of these issues with Narrator.

I have tested this with all add-ons disabled with the same result.

I'm running Windows 10 Version 2004 (OS Build 19041.450) and NVDA version 2020.2. The same happens with the current NVDA alpha, which at time of writing is version alpha-20763,1ef4dfb0.

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks in advance,

A call for testing to users of the OCR add-on

Lukasz Golonka

Hi all,

i've recently released a new development version of the OCR addon which
can be downloaded from https://github.com/lukaszgo1/nvda-ocr/releases/download/v2.1-dev/ocr-2.1-dev.nvda-addon
While user visible changes are documented in the readme the main change
in this version is the way in which parts of the screen are captured for
recognition and that is where I need your help. If you're using my
add-on currently I would be grateful if you could install the dev
version from the link above and use it for some time.
I've done some testing before release obviously but it is impossible
to account for every application out there, and while the new capturing
implementation makes future maintenance easier I don't want to do that
at the cost of worse recognition results.
Many thanks for your testing!

Re: NVDA Menu

Jacob Kruger

If you have a windows key, then windows key + B to focus on system tray/notifications bar, and, then look for the NVDA icon there - if it's not showing, you might need to first shift + tab to something liketask view button, and invoke context menu - shift + f10 if no context menu key on keyboard, and, find the item to let you choose which icons appear in system tray. Either way, hitting enter on the system tray icon for NVDA will invoke it's popup menu.

Else, ctrl + escape should invoke start menu, and then hitting escape should close it, but, hopefully leave focus on start button, so you can always tab over to task view button or system tray from there.

Re: multiple instances of NVDA

I’m experiencing the same since ages and since I can reproduce it I did following test scenario today.

These are the facts I discover all the time:

  1. After rebooting the PC, NVDA 2020.2 (and all earlier versions), starts up automatically, I have 1 NVDA icon in the systray
  2. Restarting NVDA, either by NVDA-Q – restart or by control-alt-N restarts NVDA
  3. Now I have 2 NVDA icons in the systray (always)
  4. Repeating step 2) doesn’t brin me more NVDA icons into the systray, it will stay with 2 NVDA icons
  5. Removing the shadow NVDA icon by pressing Windows-B, then hitting N until I come to the first NVDA icon, hitting enter on it, leaves me with just 1 NVDA icon in the systray
  6. Repeating step 2) doesn’t bring a second NVDA icon anymore, either with or without addons enabled
  7. Rebooting the PC brings me to the beginning where I can get a second NVDA icon in the systray by performing step 2)

Again, it is always the same, with or without addons enabled.

  Ralf

I was going to say, if you had a way of reliably reproducing it, you could try disabling add-ons, then do that and see if it happens again - but if it doesn't happen all the time that makes it harder to track down.

Several.  Nothing particularly unusual though.
W10 App Essentials, Add-on Updater, Speech History, Bluetooth Audio, Add-on
Documentation, Remote, Classic Selection, debugHelper, Dropbox, Easy Table Nav,
Mozilla Apps Enhancements, Notepad++, Outlook Extended, Object Detection, Synth
Ring Settings Selector, Virtual Review.

Also, while I run into this literally a few times per week, I have been unable
to repro it on latest alpha yet.  Of course, now that I said it happens all the
time, it isn't happening today.

Hopefully someone else will come up with a log.
