Re: sends the contents of the clipboard to the remote machine

Chris Mullins

Hi Rui

That is good to know but I think it rases an issue.  I appreciate that text should be able to pass both ways within the remote connection but having a Push option on each end blurs the distinction between the controlling and controlled computers.  The user of the controlled computer is able to use the push command and compromise the clipboard of the controlling computer, which should not be so.  Could the “push clipboard” entry on the Remote Menu be replaced by  “Push clipbord to remote” and “Pull clipboard from remote” entries which are greyed out on a machine if it is connected as a controlled computer.  When the controlling user uses the Pull command, it could execute the “push” related code on the controlled computer, so would utilise existing routines but functionality would be where it should be, with the Controlling machine.

I am a big fan of the Remote Support feature of NVDA but I don’t find the associated Help text very helpful.

Cheers

I have not tried it with graphical content or other formatted type text or data.

I have transferred word documents this way, by opening them on the remote,

selecting all, copying, sending it to the control, and pasting into another word

document on my local machine.

A pain, but it works.

And if there is a MIME encoder (or UU Encoder) on the remote, any file could be

losslessly converted to text and moved this way.  But that is a lot of effort.

Hi

I am not aware of a add on for Tubi but I know the website you are talking about. I contacted them not all that long ago when some one told me about Tubi. I have asked them to asign short cuts for the player or make it more accessible and also mentioned about unlabeled buttons etc They said the following below.

Thanks for contacting Tubi Support.
We do not have this feature yet but I will forward your request to our Product Team.

or did I not say about the buttons it can be another ticket I would have to read my emails.

But if the person wants to use it with a smart phone it is pretty accessible on android. I have a Samsung tv with the App on it and it is accessible with the screen reader there 2.

the website at present if you pick a show will either automatically play the shows depending on the browser. Or if you jump down by headings at times I think it is said clickable it can be started that way 2.

This is with NVDA or it would also be the same with another screen reader.

I think also my keyboard with media buttons was able to play and pause the show.

you can also if you sign up for a account play on one device then go to another and finish watching on that one. You just need to activate the other devices. It is free with next to know advertising.

the player will appear for a little bit of time then disappear. The buttons in it are not labeled but in some cases you can change screen size or move the slider etc.

They have a lot of content up there for free.

If any one is interested later on tonight I will put up a tutorial for TUBi TV either to use with nvda or a mobile device. The bottom parts of it is adding stuff to a cue or deleting from your history.

If enough people email them from the community and say you use a screen reader it will most probably happen.

There will have to be a terms of service document of some sort to protect remote server operators

But the transfer should be encrypted: the remote operator should never be able to determine anything of the contents that is moving across the session, be it keyboard input or files.

So if he catches you, he is the one unethically snooping.

Why, Sarah? Every other remote desktop platform out there can move files from one machine to the other. NVDA Remote really needs this capability.

If you let someone you don't trust into your computer, then you bear the outcome.

That aside, if someone is doing a remote session and really badly wants a file from you, there are several ways they can acquire it--SCP from your machine to another, a web uploader, an email attachment, good old FTP, and more.
It's all just much less convenient than having the remote desktop software do it.

Hi, this only works with text right? You can not copy a file from local machine and send it to the remote machine?

                Hi

Yes, it works fine.  Just copy the text to the clipboard on the controlling computer then run the command.  Switch to the controlled computer and paste the text into whereever you want.

Cheers

Chris

Has anyone gotten this command to work?

I’m interested too because I like the sound of limitless old cult films at my fingertips so I’ve been thinking of trying out this service.

I haven’t really looked into tubi but it’s a great resource for cult movie fans especially as they stream a lot of stuff on there.

Hi all!

I like to use Tubi on my computer… or, I did.  All of a sudden, I can’t get the video I’ve chosen to play.  It started this a few weeks ago.  Is there an add on for Tubi?  Is there anything I can do in my browser settings or something?

Thanks

Ame
