tipically of a combination of several punctuation marks, like less
than sign and number 3 for the heart emoticon. However, these days
emoji are used more frequently, which are unicode specific simbols and
modern apps often automatically convert emoticons to alternative
emoji. About the emoticons addon itself, it will be ported as the
Python 3 changes are already being tested by the developer. Reading of
emoji is supported by NVDA natively and does not require additional
addons.

Kostadin: I'm not sure when the translation freeze will begin, I'd suggest likely early in the new year, but don't quote me on that - I'll try to get you a more up to date answer.

Shaun: I'm not sure what you were replying to there about not wanting another announcement?  Which one don't you want?  Also re audio themes, yes, it will come, not in 2019.3, but it will come :)

Robert: Feel free to try the beta out, even if you are using non-standard add-ons, at least you can work out what will work and what won't and maybe find an alternative way for some things or convince add-on authors to update (and ideally publish on the community page - unless they.... wouldn't meet the legal requirements, shall we say, in which case, do consider finding an alternative :))

Gene: Glad the update didn't break your startup setting.  Fingers crossed it works from now on! :)

If you are saying that you can successfully create a hot key, but you can't close the dialog, then you may have to close the program using task manager after you create the hot key. 
 
You can test with another screen-reader to see if the dialog can be closed.  But using the task manager in that specific part of the dialog may be what you will have to do.

What version of Winamp are you using?  I'm using 5.66 and there is nothing about abbreviations in the general dialog.  Are you using the beta?  Maybe the program gets stuck somehow on a certain item.  Maybe you will have to try tabbing, then stopping on the item before the one that is causing a problem.
Then, if you want to see the items past the one causing the problem, try opening preferences, then shift tabbing then stopping on the item before the one that causes you a problem. 
 
You can see if NVDA has anything to do with Winamp getting stuck on the item that causes you problems by using something like Narrator or JAWS and seeing if you have a problem.  That way you can see if the problemn occurs regardless of screen-reader.

Skype add-on with NVDA 2019.3 and Python 3

Does anybody use or test Skype add-on with NVDA 2019.3 and Python 3 on
Windows 10? If not, how readily accessible is Skype running on Windows 10
and NVDA without an add-on? I was in touch with Doug Lee, its developer, who
told me (and I paraphrase) that his add-on did not work too well with the
current and older NVDA versions. Whether and how soon he might update his
add-on, I do not know and it may depend on how useful users may find it.

So, for the remote add on, write to the remote add on developers about that. Also, IIRC, the emoticons add on has been merged into NVDA itself so I think that add on won't be updated anymore.

2019.3 beta 1 concern with addons

Hi,

I tested the 2019.3of nvda today
and it works well. Kudos to the developer and involved tester for this one.
But, like to emphasize there are some addons still not yet ready
for example the remote support, Emoticons, etc.
Would there be a chance to develop these
that is compatible with the future stable build of 2019.3?
The reason of asking for this is primarily
we are regularly using the remote support addons here. Thanks.

I'm really glad you guys are not taking the Apple route and rushing a product out! I am gonna wait on this a while to try it out, because of my particular add ons I use that's technically not community add ons, but yay! Yes, it would be really good to have NVDA say, copied to clipboard, etc. Especially when using the extended windows clipboard. Or, well, if there is a windows sound event for that, tell me what it is. I have the blindness taylord sound scheme for windows already, but still. Wish windows would make clipboard sounds their own sound option.

NVDA Remote: A big problem which I canot solve

Hello people,
It seems that someone has the same problem as me, but anyway, using NVDA 2019.2.1, Windows 10 ver 1903, 64 bit, when I open the settings or connect dialog it just closes without opening the window. It seems that some error has been written in the log by some (unknown) reazon.
Here's the log if you know what is happening. I have a friend that wants to connect to the remote for some assistance.

I don't want another announcement I could see how that would work in a wordprocessor but not generally, maybe a tone you could set.

And thats another thing, I do think nvda audiothemes support needs to be built into the reader with the default basic theme of low quality sounds for nvda like we have now and events like in windows.

It goes without saying distributing it inside nvda is not a good idea well the themes but maybe have a place to download themes and a way to write them and heck even I'd do that.

Then, if you want to see the items past the one causing the problem, try opening preferences, then shift tabbing then stopping on the item before the one that causes you a problem. 
 
You can see if NVDA has anything to do with Winamp getting stuck on the item that causes you problems by using something like Narrator or JAWS and seeing if you have a problem.  That way you can see if the problemn occurs regardless of screen-reader.
