Re: NVDA 2019.3 Beta 1 is out
Quentin Christensen
Hi Sky, The copy to clipboard etc conversation comes up regularly. For now, I'll just direct you to my comment last time this came up: https://nvda.groups.io/g/nvda/message/66783 Re Remote, there are arguments for and against that. For, as you say, means new users don't need to install an update. Against is we often get asked by companies installing NVDA about security and what data NVDA can or does send. Currently, it's quite easy to answer, as the program sends very little information and no personal information or speech content or what the user is doing. If we included Remote in the core, we'd need to work out how to keep everyone happy. I'm not saying we can't or wouldn't, but it won't be in 2019.3 (not least of which because aside from whether we agree or not, we don't tend to add too many new features after we release a beta - from now on, work on 2019.3 will primarily be around stability and addressing any issues which get reported. New features will still be worked on, but for Alpha releases looking towards inclusion in 2019.1. Regards Quentin.

Re: NVDA 2019.3 Beta 1 is out
Sky Mundell
Hello Quentin. I have downloaded the NVDA 2019.3.1 Beta release, and I have noticed a huge improvements over the 2019.2 one. Speech refactor is certainly a wonderful thing and I applaud speech refactor very much. However, there is one suggestion that could be included in the next betas. And that is the ability to have NVDA say, copied to clipboard, cut to clipboard, without the need for an add-on, and the second is I’d like to see the remote functionality built into the core of NVDA so that those of us who train on NVDA like myself can help clients without them having to install add-ons. Thanks, Sky.

Perhaps you are asking about the global hotkeys
dialog. I don't know why you may be having problems in that dialog.
I doubt it is related to NVDA but you can check, as I said, with another
screen-reader.
What version of Winamp are you using? I'm
using 5.66 and there is nothing about abbreviations in the general dialog.
Are you using the beta? Maybe the program gets stuck somehow on a certain
item. Maybe you will have to try tabbing, then stopping on the item before
the one that is causing a problem.
Then, if you want to see the items past the one
causing the problem, try opening preferences, then shift tabbing then stopping
on the item before the one that causes you a problem.
You can see if NVDA has anything to do with Winamp
getting stuck on the item that causes you problems by using something like
Narrator or JAWS and seeing if you have a problem. That way you can see if
the problemn occurs regardless of screen-reader.

Mini kee pass works, but it is pretty outdated and is not exactly the

best solution for this. It lacks any kind of auto filling of passwords so you have to copy and paste them manually, same for touch ID authentication. On the other hand, if you use Android, there is a great Kee pass app which does both of these just fine.

Note that warning about the site pushing Keepass is not the official site - it's a fake site setup to push malware (they also have sites offering other software such as 7Zip, which again isn't the real version.
I have used KeePass and it works ok. I was thinking of changing to 1Password for the ability to more easily use it with my wife and also between my PC and my phone.

Re: I can only hit enter on buttons, sometimes i have to left click on them instead
Quentin Christensen
Hi Sarah, I'm not familiar with Fly Virtual, but since you are using object navigation to get around, does NVDA+enter (Activate current navigator object) work? Sometimes with object navigation, you can then use NVDA+shift+backspace (move system focus to current navigator object) then enter (and sometimes you can't). Alternatively, to use the mouse, NVDA+shift+m moves the mouse to the current navigator object, then NVDA+[ is a left button click. Note that depending on the object, the mouse may not move to exactly the right position. Also, according to your log, you are using NVDA 2019.2.1, which is the current version. Quentin.

Re: Accessable antivirus program
#addonrelease
Quentin Christensen
I would chime in and say I also use Windows Defender on Windows 10. A friend and I were talking about this topic on the weekend, and I went off to see what the wider world uses. Here are three review sites I found (and have read previously) which offer their (recent / current) views on anti-virus for Windows 10. More detailed analysis from each in the links, but I've included a one line summary for each as well: How to geek: https://www.howtogeek.com/225385/what%E2%80%99s-the-best-antivirus-for-windows-10-is-windows-defender-good-enough/ Their recommendation: Windows Defender paired with Malware Bytes (according to that thread I noted the other day, Malware bytes should be accessible). They give defender 3.5 / 5. Their editor's choices, which both get 4.5 are Avast and Kaspersky. Their recommendation Kaspersky Free Antivirus is our top choice, but Bitdefender Antivirus Free and Avast Free Antivirus aren't far behind I know someone mentioned Malware Bytes in the thread. Has anyone used Avast, Kaspersky or Bitdefender lately and noted where accessibility is at with those please? Regards Quentin.

Re: Add-on issues after system restore on Windows 10
Kevin Cussick
Hi Brian and list, Yes correct You need to go into %appdata% and delete the nvda folder in there, this is quite drastic, then You need to reboot Nvda, I should have said You need another screen reader like Narrator. then delete the nvda folder under %appdata%\nvda as I say it will wipe everything out and You will need to start again. but it will fix things.
