Re: issue with extention confirmed
I have noticed this to, I have to alt tab to winamp. I actually like it being done this way maybe it could be added as a toggle to focus or not focus. I have issue with any media program that focuses on itself and nvda anounces a lot of stuff then I have to stop and replay because I miss a lot of stuff but yeah it does happen sometimes not sure why.

I have noticed that the winamp may shift tab on its own, control tab back tothe main window. Sometimes I have noticed the winamp is not focusing and functions like eq do not work right, but if I go to start, back out and alt tab a couple times it does. Its not that bad though I wish it wouldn't.

If you use a lot of add-ons, you need to write to the add on developers to make sure theirs is compatible. Get the add on updater so you don't have to go hunting. The only thing you'd have to be conscious of is add ons. Which honestly makes me beyond happy they are not releasing this soon. I want enough time for all add on developers to get ready. I'm glad it's not being rushed out. I'd imagine all the illegal add ons, like the illegal synthesizers won't work right from the start, but, again, I'm looking forward to this release. The what's new was a huge joy to read!

thanks so much for your great in process. i wonder, why developers of softwaresdont make programs accessible for all people? does accessibility need really furthere steps and a lot of times? or, the programmers think that there is noone who use keyboard! i heard even some sighted users, use keyboard instead of mouse. can you send a link for me which explains the process for making accessible softwares? God bless you and His infinite mercy i pray for you!

Hi, Sarah,
I'm tempted to ask the mods to block all this person's messages. Anybody who refuses to update their software or screen readers deserves to be hacked. Sorry to be harsh but maybe this is what it'll take to make this person update their operating system and screen reader.

If you didn't manually place it in Winamp, it isn't
there.
In the NVDA menu, open the tools submenu, down
arrow to manage extensions, and press enter. After the dialog opens you
are in a list. Read current line and up and down arrow to see what, if any
extensions, are on the machine.

Re: NVDA updating versions
Hi,

A bit of both: NVDA will keep up to date by itself if you ask it to, but some add-ons will need to be updated as they are not compatible with NVDA 2019.3; for some incompatible add-ons, add-on authors said they will release compatible releases shortly before and after 2019.3 comes out; for others, they are getting onboard, while others may need to be dropped from your system as add-ons people haven't heard from authors in a while. There are at least two add-ons that will become obsolete because 2019.3 will include functionality from these add-ons. Cheers, Joseph

Regular expression in the dictionary [Re: Expression régulière dans le dictionnaire]

English Translation: The handbook does not explain the regular expressions but does not give only one small example. Respectively “watches for” and “sette”…. very useful in programming.
---------------------------------------------------------------- While there are absolutely no language restrictions on the NVDA group, as a matter of practicality it is primarily an English language group. To capture a character sequence that is at the beginning of a word, but that may or may not be the whole word, you can use the word boundary operator, \b, to anchor to a word boundary, generally white space in any amount, or a newline, preceding a word, then couple this with a wildcard for "word characters, \w, afterward occurring zero or more times. So, to match anything starting with the characters "set" you would use: \bset\w* This would match the word "set" and the word "settings" in the first two sentences, but not "inset" in the third: I need to set the table. How many place settings do we have? The niche is inset by 5 inches. There are myriad tutorials on Regular Expressions on the web, and quite a few tools for testing the regular expressions you create (though I do not believe a lot of them would be accessible because visual highlighting is what's used to indicate what is and is not matched). This page gets into real detail about matching word boundaries, probably too much: https://www.regular-expressions.info/wordboundaries.html There are also a lot of cheat sheets out there for the most common kinds of matching. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Most of the change we think we see in life is due to truths being in and out of favor. ~ Robert Frost, The Black Cottage (1914)

Do you have a shortcut key for Winamp such as
control alt p? Try playing something, then activating the shortcut twice
while the file is playing. I have no idea if it will bring the program
into focus but in Windows 7, doing that moves NVDA to Winamp while it is
running. But the focus problem doesn't exist in the first place and I can
alt tab to it as well.

However, there is a long standing issue that I have had since upgrading to Windows 10 and using Winamp. What happens is that if I click on an audio file in Windows Explorer Winamp will play but NVDA won't focus on Winamp. That is to say, NVDA will stay focused on the file in Windows Explorer that I have just clicked on. If I then Press alt + tab and focus on Winamp and then release the keystroke, NVDA still will not focus on Winamp. If I press insert + T to read the title bar after this second step, NVDA says 'explorer window.' If I then press alt + tab to focus on Winamp again, this second time, focus stays on Winamp. Subject: [nvda] issue with extention confirmed Hi listers I updated the extention for winamp the other day and as reported originally the extention made winamp invisible the NVDA can’t even read with insirt plus T that you are sitting on winamp. I had to disable the extention. Just now after downloading a song and tagging in winamp for possible play on a radio show I decided to enable the add on and sure enough winamp vanished. It is running but I can’t apparently even go to my context menu to view file information. I can tag files but I have to guess what I’m focused on to do it. Is anyone else having issues with winamp extention version 1.2?
