Actually, it is compatible with 1809 and later. I’m beginning to wonder if this affects anyone using Add-on Updater, and if this is the case, it isn’t Windows 10 App Essentials at all.

I installed FireFox 68 a few days ago, and cannot listen to tunein.com
or some select internet radio stations. I read to correct this, start
FireFox in safe mode.

Is there a shortcut key command for starting FireFox in safe mode?

Hi there: When I went to check for updates. I was told there was no updates.  Is there a new update? Usually NVDA will say new update available.  I did not get a notification. So I went to the place where it says check for updates. There wasn’t any.

The error you gave isn't one I've seen before - NVDA doesn't need access to the Internet in order to install or run.  It obviously won't be able to check for updates if it can't access the Internet, but aside from that (and the error it gives if you try to manually check for updates is "Error checking for updates" - when it checks automatically each day it doesn't give an error if there is no connection).

 

If you go to the download's page in your browser and try to download, it will either load the page or not, and then download or give an error.  At this stage, I'm not even sure if you have downloaded an update or where you are at.  All I can tell you is that I've downloaded NVDA several times today to check, both using the update function, and manually, and haven't had any problems with the process.

I just installed 2019.1 and updated it to 2019.2.1 without incident.  You could either try again and see if it works this time, or you could download the current version from: https://www.nvaccess.org/download/

 

Downloading and installing from there will still recognise your previous version and keep your existing settings.

Ok which version do you both have?  The last regular stable version is 2019.2.1.  Yes, we're normally up to .3 thinking about .4 by now, but with big changes coming in to the next release, we didn't want to rush it just to meet a time frame.

So, if you are running 2019.2.1, then you're on the latest version.  You can also check on the download page: https://www.nvaccess.org/download the first heading tells you the current version.

Ron, have you tried simply using alt control n? That's what I do when
NVDA gets stuck. Otherwise it's a hassle.

You need to install the virtual review addon as this is not a built-in
NVDA function. You can get it at

The add-ons people have received numerous reports of incompatible add-ons listed on community add-ons website, along with reports of at least one add-on that wasn’t maintained actively until recently. To highlight these, a “legacy add-ons” section has been created at the following page:

For purposes of record keeping, a legacy add-on is an add-on that is no longer actively maintained and/or incompatible with recent NVDA releases. When a new add-on maintainer is found or the add-on becomes compatible with recent NVDA releases, they will return to either “stable” or “development” status depending on the status prior to legacy declaration. Some add-ons will be removed after being declared “legacy” for some time if the add-on becomes unnecessary, mostly due to features from the add-on becoming part of NVDA screen reader.
