Oh okay. No wonder I couldn’t find the original message. I thought it was due to this windows ten mail. The event I did miss I didn’t care that I missed it! I didn’t want to go anyway! I’m looking for another e-mail client should I end up gaining employment.

Arlene,
No problem. The original poster was a very recent joiner here and left quite quickly. The only reason I mentioned it is so that anyone extending the discussion believing that they might be answering the original question/fixing the original issue won't have the audience that raised it. -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Most of the change we think we see in life is due to truths being in and out of favor. ~ Robert Frost, The Black Cottage (1914)

Sorry Brian: I did not see the original post. I was away for a few days. I thought there was an update to NVDA when I seen some of the messages that were inquiring about an update. I’m having slight trouble with windows ten mail. I don’t see all the messages that are posted. I’m looking into getting another e-mail client. Due to this minor problem. I missed an event that I was going to attend. I just now seen the message that was sent days ago.

Hold down shift while Firefox is starting to enable safe mode. So for example I will hit my shortcut key for Firefox and then immediately switch to holding down shift. A dialog box will come up asking if you want to start in safe mode or refresh Firefox.

Hi NVDA Members,
I installed FireFox 68 a few days ago, and cannot listen to tunein.com or some select internet radio stations. I read to correct this, start FireFox in safe mode. Is there a shortcut key command for starting FireFox in safe mode? Thanks in advance. -- David Russell

Re: Insert Key deactivated after shutdown and restart
Ron,
If you have not already done so, check to see if Fast Startup is enabled on your system and, if so, disable it. The very first "mysterious experience" I had that had Fast Startup and the corruption of the hibernation file used by same at its root was for JAWS and not responding to keyboard input. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Control Panel, Power Options, Choose what the Power Button does link, activate the Change settings that are currently unavaliable link to make the checkboxes for Turn on Fast Startup (recommended), Sleep, Hibernate, and Lock available for checking/unchecking. Uncheck the checkbox for Fast Startup and gracefully work your way back out of the dialogs. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1909, Build 18363 Most of the change we think we see in life is due to truths being in and out of favor. ~ Robert Frost, The Black Cottage (1914)

Re: Virtual review and cmd / power shell
Hi, Technically, it does not replace screen review, especially if modern apps are involved. This add-on will do what JAWS’s “virtualize current window” command does: presents screen content (almost the entire screen content) as a virtual viewer so one can review text. In modern apps such as ones found in Windows 8 and later, this add-on will gather content text by traversing through all screen elements (or almost all elements) and collect labels and present it on screen. Cheers, Joseph

I don't know enough about virtual review to comment on that. It sounded to me from the description and from the name that it duplicates screen review but are you saying that isn't the case? I was saying that it evidently allows you to search the screen which is a feature no NVDA review mode has and thus, it shouldn't be described as just a convenience. But it would be good to clarify if it duplicates screen review but with different commands or does something else.

Hi, Maybe we need to update the description to say that it is useful in modern apps where screen review isn’t working. Cheers, Joseph
From: nvda@nvda.groups.io <nvda@nvda.groups.io> On Behalf Of Gene
I just read the description of the add-on. The sentence near the beginning that says that it is just for convenience and doesn't replace the NVDA review methods appears to be inaccurate. Assuming that this is equivalent to screen mode in NVDA, it has an important ability that screen mode has never had, nor object navigation. You can't search for content in either of those modes. You have to look at the screen or move through the screen line by line to get to something.

You need to install the virtual review addon as this is not a built-in

****** character is found in how you treat people who cannot do anything for you!
From: Joseph Lee
Hi all,
The add-ons people have received numerous reports of incompatible add-ons listed on community add-ons website, along with reports of at least one add-on that wasn’t maintained actively until recently. To highlight these, a “legacy add-ons” section has been created at the following page: https://addons.nvda-project.org/legacy.en.html
For purposes of record keeping, a legacy add-on is an add-on that is no longer actively maintained and/or incompatible with recent NVDA releases. When a new add-on maintainer is found or the add-on becomes compatible with recent NVDA releases, they will return to either “stable” or “development” status depending on the status prior to legacy declaration. Some add-ons will be removed after being declared “legacy” for some time if the add-on becomes unnecessary, mostly due to features from the add-on becoming part of NVDA screen reader.
Thank you. Cheers, Joseph
