Having trouble with outlook while using NVDA.

Dear Quentin,

 

Recently I have installed MS office 2019. If I open any mails which has meeting request in outlook app, outlook is automatically getting restart. This issue I having only while NVDA or Narrator running in my system. If I open meeting request mails in outlook app while JAWS is running, I am able to open without any issues. This issue 3 members are facing in my organization. Please let me know what I can do for this issue. Even if I open the meeting requests mail without screen reader, I am not facing any issue. My colleagues tried re installing the office 2019 as well as 2016. But, still the issue hasn’t resolved. Our IT team also tried their level best. But, they couldn’t.

Hi since I updated to the latest NVDA version, some add-ons are incompatable, one of the them is the NVDA remote.
Is there any other new add-on available and from where I can get it please?

Overloaded lines etc.
Even though I have fibre, these days especially the net is really used.
Sometimes my echo responces take 20 seconds to come accross.
Data can take some time to get from place to place.
I have had a few things like that.

If thats not the case either of you could be using wrong channels for

I have laptops and so do others I remote for.
Laptops are fine, but if you have a desktop and use a standard
internal card, depending where the unit is or even where the card is
you can get poor quality.
On a desktop I used the unit was close but under a desk under the user
the wireless card was at the bottem of the case and that was enough to
really play havoc with audio.
The user changed to a usb dongle placed on top of the same unit and
there was no issue after that.
If you do not use fibre, the same thing could apply with cable.
If you still use copper then they are not as strong as fibre, I used
to get noisy lines and broken connections needing someone to fix more
often than I would care for.
When I got the latest one 2 years back the isp simply switched me to
fibre and I got a better plan and that be it.
If you happen to use mobile wireless broadband signals and congestion
can vary widely.

NVDA uses LibLouis for its braille tables.  I did find this issue on the LIbLous GitHub page mentioning plus signs in the UK tables.  The issue is open and I'm not 100% clear if the issue is the same as yours, but it might be worth you commenting on it to ensure the problem is documented or clarified: https://github.com/liblouis/liblouis/issues/972

 

If you're not familiar with GitHub, it is a website where open source projects like NVDA and LibLouis can store their code, track issues (which might be bugs, such as this one, or suggestions for new features), and where people can submit ideas or code updates.

Extract the file, and from a command prompt do the following.

1. navigate to the directory your speedtest is in this is usually my downloads folder.

Command prompt usually starts in your user folder so cd .\downloads

then type

speedtest -p n

where p is progress output and n is none.

Final download and upload speed should be the same as your net connection is.

So for example mine is a 25mmb up and 100mb plan down so 100-104-108mb down by between 19.00-20.00 if on wireless to 25.00 up.

Your jitter and latency time should be low and your packet loss should be 0.

If you are rural you may only have 20mb down 10 mb up or if in a really remote location between 5-3-1mb down and anything from 0.7mb up to 3 or so up maybe.

Your friend needs to do the same.

Does this happen with anything else.

If you have fibre this should all work.

If its outside like some of my stuff is then there isn't much you can do about fixing it.

    What would cause the addon to frequently disconnect? it is fine on my pc to laptop. I was working with a friend in Kentucky and we worked for over three hours because it kept disconnecting.Sometimes it would freeze if I stopped to speak to the client about something. I say freeze because it did not give the disconnect tone but I still could not do anything from my end but the client still had access.

Does the Frontier Airlines sit'e do this? I spent a bit of time yesterday trying to figure out why that site behaves so badly on a Mac with Safari. Though I have to say it worked much better with Firefox on the Mac which is weird since 6 months ago one could not use Firefox with Voiceover.

Question about using the elements list on a page with a large quantity of information

Hi.  I was trying to browse through the list of authors under W on Project Gutenburg using the NVDA 2020.4 elements list, and it didn’t announce that it was open.  I don’t know if this is because it was trying to process a large quantity of information.  This might happen on other websites, so the subject line wasn’t specific to 1 website.  I googled Project Gutenburg, since the shortcut I had in my favourites was out-of-date.  Has anyone else come across something like this with other sites?

Well I tried adobe reader 64 bit and access wize, forget it.


The program sure that works.

Open a file and it will load then close itself.

I went back to standard 32 bit and it works.

One thing to note, if you don't want bogged down systems there are syncing things that activate if you sign in.

I don't think there is any extras you gain with the free version unless you want to convert online and there are ways getting round that.

Saying all that, adobe acrobat will actually do a good job of reading properly structured web content inside pdfs so if they are done right actual web pages will be loaded for you to brouse as normal inside the reader which can actually be cool.

If this is happening on a lot of sites, it may be the EU’s GDPR cookie consent banner, where you have to either accept or reject cookies to be placed onto your browser, this is for all sites for countries in the EU, including the UK still

 

And it may be that this banner is taking focus after the browser refreshes

 

 

Other than that it appears that the Sainsburys website is working a it should

Then the question becomes:  Is anything misbehaving from a functional standpoint for you, the end user, with NVDA or Acrobat Reader DC?

There are errors that are critical, and errors that are not.  I've had many occasions with betas where a cycle of retries, in very rapid succession, produces exactly what you're experiencing now.  But whatever the error is must not be critical, because I can continue along just like nothing happened.  Remember that the beta software is "much more vocal" about signaling these sorts of errors than released software is.  You might be able to fire up 2020.4, and check your log, and find precisely the same batch of errors.  Errors have to rise to a certain level of criticality before the production releases will report them to a user.  The beta versions will give you a signal for each and every error logged, regardless of its level of criticality.

But what's been shared is likely to get a couple of sets of review and the issue addressed if need be.

Hi Brian.

After running the tool and rebooting, I re-ran Acrobat and got exactly 22 of the following errors in the NVDA log:

I don't know how many times this needs to be repeated before the membership finally starts doing it, but I'm repeating it because it is an absolute must, unless such page happens to be behind a login, like a banking page.

It is impossible to give accurate answers with insufficient premises to work on.  And, by the way, that's not a complaint about the title.  It would be hard to come up with a pinpoint description of the issue, but the issue itself was described just fine in the original message.  What's missing is "the exact where," which is what's needed.

Those asking about issues with a specific webpage should put that webpage URL in their first message about said issues.
