Weird.

Looks like a corrupted windows install. Reinstall windows, run malware scans etc. Updating sound drivers maybe to. Of course it happened suddenly, that would suggest some sort of hardware issue. I had all sorts of issues with a business server because of a dead wireless adaptor.

Hi Arlene,
Using Notepad in Win7 the control-s command saves my
document. What I do not hear in NVDA is the question “do you want to save the
document” and the statement “document saved.”
I use Window-Eyes and it tells me what I want and like
to hear! I was doing some editing earlier this evening using NVDA and found
other differences on the QBraille display I use. If and when it becomes
necessary to only use NVDA it will take some getting used to on my Win10 PC
since it does not use Window-Eyes. There are days when Grandpa DOS wishes he
could go back to DOS again! Thanks for your reply. Listening for His shout! Grant

Thanks for all your answers. Does anyone know how I can navigate through a list view? If I do it with narrator or NVDA I always navigate through columns but not through lines. it is very annoying when using Windows Explorer. I guess there must be a build in solution to do this. Otherwise I'm going to create a gesture for it. Von meinem iPhone gesendet

did you save your nvda settings before the time that the language of nvda is changed? if yes, just press nvda+control+r to reset nvda to the previous settings.

Re: NVDA adding and changing settings

Grant! In my win 7 box, I had outlook 2010. I used NVDA for when I had to write a document in word. When I went to save it. NVDA did not ask you if you want to save the document. I can’t remember how I did it using it. I had to close NVDA down and get Jaws up. I had to save the document using jaws cause Jaws does ask you if you want to save your document. I told it yes. I don’t have word now that I have win ten. If I did. I’d retest NVDA and try to save a document using NVDA. I’d try to find how one does it.

Urgent help needed NVDA was not able to loa Microsoft SAPI 5
Mr. Wong Chi Wai, William <cwwong.pro@...>
Hi,
Very annoying to me. Today I wake up to find that my NVDA suddenly doesn't speak English. If I try to set Microsoft SAPI 5 as the speach engine, NVDA display error message that the speech synth was not able to load. The problem also exist if I try to load RH voice. For details, I have included in the log file here. I am very very upset now. Could any one offer me a fix for it. Many thanks. William

Re: NVDA and ccleaner
Gene
In general, its better not to run a registry
cleaner unless you have a problem that there is reason to believe is a registry
problem. and, according to an article I will reproduce below, most
problems aren't registry probems.
In the old days, when computers were much slower
and Windows may not have worked with the registry as efficiently, it may be that
using a registry cleaner may have increased performance. I don't know
if that is true but it hasn't been true for a long time. I'm talking about
the dark ages, when computers ran at something like 166mhz. Now, computers
run in the ghz range, 100 or more times faster.
Here is an article supporting my view. It is
a contraversial question, but I have never heard a convincing argument to the
contrary and I don't believe in taking even small risks for no benefit.

Re: Links on websites with submenus and/or links that NVDA can't interact with
Gene
I just looked at the site with JAVA script
on. I followed one of the links and it opened another page as a standard
link does. I see that the site has a login place, and you didn't say if
you did so. I didn't look enough to see if features are available if you
log in that aren't otherwise, but the entire home page appears accessible to
me. In addition, between each of the navigation links is a link that says
skip navigation links. You really only need one but since someone put a
skip link after every navigation link, that strongly implies to me that the site
was designed to be accessible, even if this or that accomodation may be
overdoing it.
I'm not sure what accounts for your problems or
if, given more information, we can see them. But just going to the
site and looking around doesn't show me any.

Hi
all, I just visited the following website: http://canadianxpress.ca/ I notice that when going there, there is a number sign at the end of the address. There are multiple websites I've found like this, and each time I've encountered issues. On this particular site I believe the main links open up drop downs with additional links underneath the main one. Is there a way, whether via addons or other, to make this and other sites like this usable, short of contacting the webmaster who may or may not change the links to make them clickable? Jaws simply announces the links as mouse overs, but has the same result as NVDA. I've come across sites where to hover over content, you can simply activate object navigation and route the mouse cursor to the link in question and more information will be present. Not with this one, however... Any help would be appreciated. Tried switching browsers as well.

Accessible twitter clients?
John Isige
Hi all. I was wondering if there were other accessible twitter clients than TWBlue, which is what I've been using ever since Chicken Nugget lost a bunch of functionality a while back when twitter made changes. Today it simply refuses to run and I'm sick of screwing around with it to try and get it working. So any alternatives?

Re: Links on websites with submenus and/or links that NVDA can't interact with
Jonathan COHN
So, if this is a website with MouseOver actions that do not have equivalent keyboard interaction, then you probably will not have much luck. Gene's use of turning off JavaScript is interesting, sometimes sites are better at working without JavaScript than they are with general universal design. You will often find Developers that will create lists of all the links, and then hide those links with JavaScript, only to make them visible again on certain actions.

Re: Using Surface Pro with touchscreen only?
Quentin Christensen
I think the main issue might be that not as many touch gestures are pre-setup, however you can setup any gestures you like using NVDA's Input Gestures feature, particularly as the newer hardware running the latest Windows 10 might be able to distinguish different gestures. I think if you can input a gesture that Narrator recognises, NVDA should be able to recognise it also - it might just be that we haven't set anything to activate to that gesture by default. That is probably the main thing I would say - even if we defined more gestures by default, it would still be hard to try to come close to the number of commands you can give NVDA via the keyboard - certainly not as logically. But that will be the same for any screen reader on any platform.
