You may have to repair Windows or reinstall it.  I don't know which may be more likely to correct the problem.

pesky pop-up

Monte Single

Just like that waskally wabbit in the old cartoon.

Recently I started a download on sendspace before logging in.

As a result I now get, fairly often, pop-up   for jewellery or such.

I know it has to do with sendspace because it says send space in the pop-up message.

I am using current versions of  nvda and chrome in win 7.

How  do I wack this waskally wabbit?

Thanks,

Monte

Hi John,

I ran a fresh install of OS and before I ran the Microsoft Driver/Firmware package, I installed NVDA and it tested fine.  Once I installed the MS package, NVDA stopped working.  I stopped testing at that point as I know I can run NVDA in Portable mode.  If I had more time to test I would re-image and install each driver manually and test NVDA but unfortunately I had to deploy my test machine.

Re: NVDA and pausing for specific punctuation

I did just find the two topics related to this, and they are in the Windows 10 for Screen Reader Users group.

This one, making oneCore voices read more like eloquence, is about the basics of trying to change parameters related to voice speed and other timing.

A closely related topic, Taking Ownership of System Files under Windows 10 , came about because getting permissions on the ini file that you have to edit is a non-trivial thing for OneCore voices.

As this is all synthesizer driven, and screen reader agnostic, it applies as much to NVDA as any other screen reader.

This was discussed recently, and at great length.   I thought it was on the NVDA group, but it might have been the JAWS group or Win10 for Screen Reader Users group.  It is as definitive as it can be that this is a synthesizer controlled function, and there was even discussion of how to edit .ini files to change this (which I wouldn't recommend).

Quentin,
I'm using the symbol for the word section §. I deal with documents that reference legislation. For example a document (Word, Powerpoint, PDF, etc) says "Article 6, § 3351.4."

I've looked in the punctuation formatting and I can see the symbol in there and have it set to read it always. But it doesn't. It skips the symbol all together.

Calibre front-end installer:

Both versions require that you have Calibre already installed, this is

As Carlos was an NVDA user, I'm sure it will be totally accessible,
here's an excerpt from the readme file:
Calibre is an application for organizing and converting eBooks. It's
ability to convert between many eBook formats is one of it's more

It does, but how much it pauses is entirely dependent upon which speech synth you are using.

Your best bet is to write something up in notepad, and test the pauses, if you want to know more.
