Hi

Ok that makes sense I heard there was chatter we are changing over before long to use it and things like add ons etc will need to be updated as well to work with it.

is it that we are starting to change from the next release of NVDA?

I would also have to go back and check on the same page it said there was a beta release of NVDA last week. yet when you download it it mentions nvda 2019.1 and not nvda 2019.2 as you would expect in a beta release. I would have to go back and check also it referenced what was new in 2019.1 and not in 2019.2 coming up.

It is for may 2nd 2019 maybe the wrong snap shot went up there?

Hi guys

I was just looking up on the snap shots page to see if the beta was released of NVDA which it is, but noticed the above in the subject line above the aalpha snap shot. I know what the other 2 do but what does this one do that might be different? to the others?

There is no information to say what it does like the others.

I managed to get tick changed to apostrophe, I forgot about the other times I might want to hear dot instead of period so I've decided to leave that as is for now.

Hi.

In the symbols pronunciation dialog, there are two entries for both these symbols, as there are two cases where both are usually used. The long and short of it is, you'd need to change them both, but I'm not sure if this may have undesired results. Change them and let us know.

cannot remove speaking of row headings in excel

Cearbhall O'Meadhra

Quentin,

I have pressed NVDA + control + r to set a particular column as the row headings for each row in my excel spread sheet. Each row is separated by a blank row but yet NVDA set all of the cells in that column as the heading for their respective row. This was fine when I needed to hear what row I was on.
Now, I wish to turn off speaking of the rows and find that NVDA will only allow me to turn off speaking the cells one at a time. There are 5,650 rows involved! I don't think I should have to do each cell in turn, should I?

How can I now get rid of the spoken row headings for the entire column?

All the best,

Then there is this stupid apple music format which will not play on anything bar apple.

Then there is this icloud business.

Icloud is not as accessible as it once was, its usable but naah not going there.

Now that doesn't mean I won't become one with the borg its just I won't use it as a communication interface.

At least not the apple cube.

I am allready so heavily into the google section off the borg I am getting  an android device, yes, with all the security issues, and stuff that goes with it but I get storage options for external storage and can do whatever I want.

I know talkback exists on the devices I know there are accessible things like mobile access suite and or synaptic if I really get a need to customise things, I obviously want to have access to all my simple stuff but as I adapt to it I want more access to everything else.

One thing that is even pushing me to get assimilated is simply because there are a lot more apps to test than standard windows ones, its clear I need to switch my game up to get into the next level of the cyberverse.

On the other side as long as they exist I can for ever more get and upgrade talks on my devices, then again, I will always need a 32 bit system to update and or use them so well there you go.

I could use an old apple device but to be honest, samsung or even nokia seem to be the push for a lot, I want pure droid to be honest, google devices don't use external storage sadly though.

But google devices do use usb c which does mean I guess I could run a hub off it with usbc ssd drives on and you can buy some now.

Well, for ages I dreamed about owning an iphone.

I was about to become part of the collective, but the prices are high, with itunes only being a music transfer app and podcast downloader and places to buy subscriptions and music/book content as well as updates its suddenly not worth it.

Then there is this face id crap, especially since the health of my eyes are not doing well, its almost impossible to use normal security and photo recognition systems allready.

What would be really good would be a short routine that means people could share customised versions. Obviously theirs would depend on localisation. I've successfully done it manually on my own machines but an error and all sorts of oddities can occur when you reboot nvda. Ahem.

Hi.

In the symbols pronunciation dialog, there are two entries for both these symbols, as there are two cases where both are usually used. The long and short of it is, you'd need to change them both, but I'm not sure if this may have undesired results. Change them and let us know.

There are often multiple places you need to change it to account for the various uses of the symbol. i have now managed to change bang into exclamation and ^ to point up and many others like number to hash etc to cope with the uk way of saying stuff.
You may need to hunt for them and then save the settings. It is quite a long process but you only need to do it once. I know I miss one when it says it but finding it, ah, that is the long bit!

Hi all,

I would like to hear NVDA say period instead of dot when I press a period and I'd like it to say apostrophe instead of tick when I press an apostrophe. I found where to change this in the menus and I saved it, but I still hear dot when I press period and tick when I press apostrophe even though when I checked back where I made the change it appears that the changes I made are still there.

In case I did something wrong, I highlighted the 2 things I wanted to change and tabbed once to the edit field and typed what I wanted to hear in place of what was there then I tabbed to okay. Can anybody help?

Thanks.

My question is: Does NVDA support the Compact version of the Vocalizer Expressive voices?

I use Daniel Compact on my iPhone and I would love to be able to use Compact versions of Vocalizer with NVDA if at all possible.

Looking forward to knowing if this is possible or not.

Besides all this, a very sincere request from me as not only an add-on

Hi Joseph, I have now updated this and focus Highlight this morning, but
with the often encountered failure to reboot due to the log file being in
use on the restart of nvda.
My main thrust here though is this,
There are numerous error wornings in the update process from another add on
the 3D sounds one.
Should I now remove this as in the main its still making sounds that make
it easier to tell on the actual screen where and what sort of thing is going
on.
Is there another certified add on that does this I can use?
Here is the log up till when it tries to reboot.

Its the current release being run portably in this instance on windows 7 64

Subject: [nvda] Resource Monitor 19.05/19.05A now available, mandatory
update #AddonRelease

Hi all,

Resource Monitor 19.05/19.05A is now available. Version 19.05A is for
those who've updated to 19.05 and found the add-on didn't work (caused
by a missing file).

IMPORTANT: the new add-on release is a mandatory update for everyone
using Resource Monitor add-on, as it enables compatibility with NVDA
2019.2.
I'll
talk more about why this is so very soon.

Cheers,

Joseph

Re: Resource Monitor 19.05/19.05A now available, mandatory update #addonrelease

Brian's Mail list account <bglists@...>

Its not a hijack as it was an enquiry about interaction.
Obviously if I was querying a different add on directly I would call the thread that.
There are times when you ar as bad burnt as scolded of late and one has to make a choice or never bring up the subject which is not the stated desire of the mods as far as I can tell.
Now you have sort of clarified it fine, but nobody has said if there is another add on to do the same job. I'll probably start a new thread in add ons about that.

Hi,
There are numerous other warnings from that add-on that's troubling. Besides
that, we need to figure out if that add-on will even survive Python 3
transition.
Besides all this, a very sincere request from me as not only an add-on
author, but this time as a list owner/moderator: could you mind no longer
hijacking threads please? I usually do not respond to hijacked threads in
realtime, preferring to deal with all of them in one go; I responded because
of warnings from logs. Next time though, I won't, because I think it would
be best to start a new thread if discussing a different add-on.
Cheers,
Joseph

Hi Joseph, I have now updated this and focus Highlight this morning, but
with the often encountered failure to reboot due to the log file being in
use on the restart of nvda.
My main thrust here though is this,
There are numerous error wornings in the update process from another add on
the 3D sounds one.
Should I now remove this as in the main its still making sounds that make
it easier to tell on the actual screen where and what sort of thing is going
on.
Is there another certified add on that does this I can use?
Here is the log up till when it tries to reboot.

Its the current release being run portably in this instance on windows 7 64
bit pro.

Cheers,

Joseph
