Re: NVDA Suddenly Silent after latest Win10 Cumulative Update
Even more interesting, Narrator is dead silent, too. I am going to try restarting, but I definitely had volume when streaming last night. I have, however, encountered some weirdness when I disconnect an HDMI cable at times, but it's usually with video, not audio. I'll report back after restarting.

Did you switch synthesizers? Before doing
that, did you apply the saved configuration, NVDA key control
r? Did you also try playing something to make sure the sound card is
functioning?

Hi,

What I'm really interested in finding out is what NVDA records in the log - perhaps it might be a DLL problem, a startup issue, etc. Cheers, Joseph

No specific add-on involved, and, NVDA + T would generally just announce the window title?
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
BTW, let me double-check that we're talking about same file manager - I'm occasionally working with FreeCommander XE version 2018.0.0.770: https://freecommander.com/en/summary/ By the way, am also working under windows 10 64 bit, so, yes, I do have the windows 10 app essentials add-on installed, but, also don't think that's really relevant. Re: NVDA reads Drupal 8 Superfish menu in Chrome with "link ALT+" appended to the end of href links
maura.clover@...
Good morning,
I wanted to report back that the Drupal Superfish issue with NVDA has been resolved. Superfish was injecting an empty "accesskey" attribute into href links which NVDA and JAWS were both announcing as ALT+. The attribute has been removed and now both SRs read the menu correctly. Thank you Luke for your suggestion as it was the right path to follow. Regards.

Buttons on embedded Acast player
Steve Griffiths
Has anyone tried to use the Acast podcast player on a website? I've found that the buttons to play and pause the podcast work in Chrome, but are unlabelled in Firefox and not even announced in Internet Explorer, although they do take focus. Is there a setting in NVDA or the browser that I can change to correct this? Or should I approach the NVDA developers about it?

MAY BE STUPID BUT NEED HELP

Hi to everone
I looked at my log yesterday and found a few notices seeming to be possible or probable functional errors.
I am rather clueless regarding the exact working of computer programs. I am going to copy the log report. If I simply am stupid, please tell me, if not, advise me what might be wrong or tell me what to do.
Thanks and warmest regards

The issue with the sound moving to the right speaker is only on the laptop speakers. The sound is clear through earphones. However, whether I use earphones or not, my NVDA ducks whenever windows makes a sound. I also have to set NVDA on a low volume through earphones and change volume using the speaker settings otherwise NVDA is too loud. The jumps between volumes on my NVDA are massive. Kind regards Heaven

I had a similar issue several years ago when I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10. I finally called the Microsoft Disability Answer Desk, and the agent to whom I spoke installed a new sound driver for me. You might give that a try. Good luck.

Hi all,
After receiving feedback regarding recent add-on updates and compatibility checks, I’m going to do two things:
For those using Add-on Updater: depending on if you’ve updated add-ons recently or not, you’ll either get no update announcement or a dialog asking you to “update”. Don’t worry if update versions seem to be older than what you might be using.
A note to anyone wishing to test Project Threshold with add-ons: at this time, I advise against it until “green light” is issued from authorities. The exception is for add-on developers who are interested in keeping an eye on changes coming with this project – hold off releasing Threshold powered add-on versions until told to do so. Cheers, Joseph

Hi Group Nvda,
I use Free Commander for free on my computer. To switch between individual panels, press Tab. However, Nvda does not tell me which panel I am in. Free Commander is available at: http://freecommander.com I wonder if there will ever be a sound system for Free Commander implemented in Nvda. (I'm talking about the sound so Nvda can tell me in Free Commander the left and right panels.) Jarek
