Hello all This is a request for help with a survey looking at how screen reader users access electronic publications. I know a couple of people have already indicated that they would be willing to participate but in case anyone missed the original announcement, I am including it here. Researchers at the University of Michigan are currently conducting a pilot study to gain some understanding of the ways in which users of screen readers such as NVDA and Jaws acquire and use E-Publications. If you have a couple of minutes, would you be willing to participate? There are 12 questions and the survey takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. The reward, if you choose to accept it, is a free ebook from the University of Michigan Press - we can send you a list of possible titles if you include your email address in the box at the end of the form. We need responses back by the end of May. The survey is here: <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdaTt__XoOHp0Fp-WOP2KwN12Ku0bxISOCmGhFqraka_Y3oMg/viewform?usp=sf_link> Thanks in advance for your help. --Sile--Sile O'Modhrain Associate Professor, School of Information University of Michigan.

Re: A short survey on using NVDA with E-Publications
I can also report that access to the survey form under Google Docs is restricted. Someone needs to go in and either make it entirely public or at least make it such that those who have the link can access it.

Re: NVDA Suddenly Silent after latest Win10 Cumulative Update
Definitely one of those "HDMI cable removal" issues that occur every so often on this laptop. I tried viewing a YouTube video before restarting, and it was dead silent, too.
After a system reboot all is back to normal. One of those "brain farts" because I should have remembered this issue occurring in the past, but it's been ages since I've been routinely using HDMI output from this laptop, so that memory faded (but is fresh again now). -- Brian - Windows 10 Pro, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 Puritanism: The haunting fear that someone, somewhere, may be happy. ~ H.L. Re: NVDA Suddenly Silent after latest Win10 Cumulative Update
Even more interesting, Narrator is dead silent, too. I am going to try restarting, but I definitely had volume when streaming last night. I have, however, encountered some weirdness when I disconnect an HDMI cable at times, but it's usually with video, not audio. I'll report back after restarting.

Did you switch synthesizers? Before doing
that, did you apply the saved configuration, NVDA key control
r? Did you also try playing something to make sure the sound card is
functioning?

What I'm really interested in finding out is what NVDA records in the log - perhaps it might be a DLL problem, a startup issue, etc. Cheers, Joseph

Re: Nvda and Free Commander
Jacob Kruger
No specific add-on involved, and, NVDA + T would generally just announce the window title?
toggle quoted messageShow quoted text
BTW, let me double-check that we're talking about same file manager - I'm occasionally working with FreeCommander XE version 2018.0.0.770: https://freecommander.com/en/summary/ By the way, am also working under windows 10 64 bit, so, yes, I do have the windows 10 app essentials add-on installed, but, also don't think that's really relevant. NVDA is still firing up, but is dead silent. Before I uninstall and reinstall I thought I'd ask if there's something I should check first. I have the No Beeps Speech add-on and have tried toggling states, but that has no effect.

Re: NVDA reads Drupal 8 Superfish menu in Chrome with "link ALT+" appended to the end of href links
maura.clover@...
Good morning,
I wanted to report back that the Drupal Superfish issue with NVDA has been resolved. Superfish was injecting an empty "accesskey" attribute into href links which NVDA and JAWS were both announcing as ALT+. The attribute has been removed and now both SRs read the menu correctly. Thank you Luke for your suggestion as it was the right path to follow. Regards.

do you know the addon? If I press Nvda+t, nothing is told me. Jarek Dne 16-05-2019 v 10:47 Jacob Kruger napsal(a):
Not really relevant, but, just used golden cursor to tell me which panel I was in - tabbed over to one after the other, routed mouse cursor to where was focused, and then asked golden cursor add-on to tell me mouse coordinates.

Buttons on embedded Acast player
Steve Griffiths
Has anyone tried to use the Acast podcast player on a website? I've found that the buttons to play and pause the podcast work in Chrome, but are unlabelled in Firefox and not even announced in Internet Explorer, although they do take focus. Is there a setting in NVDA or the browser that I can change to correct this? Or should I approach the NVDA developers about it?

Hi Christo, Although they look like errors which might need attention, the key question is: Did anything seem to go wrong or stop working when that error happened? Quentin.
