Re: does NVDA work with netbook laptops?
If it is Windows 10, I can't see why it wouldn't work.
As an aside, I have little experience with recent netbooks, but there are things like the HP Stream series of light laptops still floating around. The very moderate savings you will get from buying one of these instead of a more normal laptop, will be vastly offset by the never ending headaches you will have from having only a 32GB or 64GB SSD. Having those microscopic hard drives, which a netbook might since you don't give any further information, makes it very difficult for Windows to update itself, aside from the fact that you will be constantly running out of general storage space. Yes there are ways around this using SD cards and USB sticks, but if your netbook has one of these tiny drives, please reconsider whether you should acquire it. The fact that these things were ever manufactured is a travesty.
Of course, if it's a netbook with a more reasonably sized drive, ignore everything I just said.:)

HiDoug Lee and all,
Thanks very much for your excellent explanation.
I do not use linux, I use Windows, but because the
repository where Weather_Plus is located does not use
the Windows convention for CRLF?
The Notepadplusplus is used for the elaboration of the
readme.md files and they are encoded in UTF-8, I think
that this is also used for the elaboration of the source
files, if I am not mistaken all the word processor use
the CRLF convention if you have Windows?
I think Zvonimir should use this convension and not the
LF convension used by Linux seems more logical to me.
What you think?
How to avoid this in the future I do not know?
Thank you for this passionate debate.
Cheers.

[nvda-addons] Important note for Weather_Plus6.0
translators
English first:
Linux and Windows create text files differently: In
Linux, lines end with a line-feed character, or LF. In
Windows, lines end with two characters: A carriage
return, or CR, followed by a line feed, LF. We commonly
abbreviate these as LF and CRLF, respectively.
Zvonimir was saying that the project uses the LF
convention but your files use the CRLF convention. The
result is that comparing original files with your files
will make it seem like you changed every line in the
files. This, of course, is an accident; but it makes
detecting actual code changes more difficult.

Re: help with automatic language switching
Yes indeed I am using the Vocalizer Expressive from Tiflotecnia. I am using the latest version. Thanks for telling me about the Braille extender. I installed it and although it does not do automatic language switching, the short among various tables is helpful. However, I seem to be getting some errors when I use it. I hope a newer release would solve these errors.

If I have character echo on, and type at my normal speed, it can't keep up at all.
It doesn't matter what application I am using,
I am using the latest version of NVDA and Windows 10/

Re: Latency with Microsoft David voice
Thanks Sarah.
I still use Latex for creating technical documents so character-by-character feedback helps when embedding latex commands.

call for topics letter for NVDA CONFERENCE 2019
Austin Pinto <austinpinto.xaviers@...>
Hello, This year, the NVDACon International planning committee would like to invite you to submit session topics for the upcoming NVDA community conference (NVDACon). The conference will be held in August of 2019.
NVDA – non visual desktop access, is the software which changes thousands of lives of visually impaired and blind people worldwide. As every open source project, NVDA is backed by a fantastic community. The NVDA community is unique by the fact that visually impaired and non visually impaired people work together to improve accessibility on Windows and to boost efficiency when working with third party applications. NVDA is not only a software, it is a social movement which is already spread all over the world. The event which underpins the social interaction between users, developers, institutions and stake holders is the NVDA community converence (NVDACon). Every year, the stake holders in this community are meeting on this online conference and discuss or present interesting topics related to accessibility and the NVDA screen reader.
If you represent a company, organization or you are an individual person who is passionate about accessibility related topics, or if you are interested to take part or even to present something on the conference, please submit your topic to info@nvdacon.org by June 30th, 2019.
There are two presentation types available for NVDACon: 1. Lightning talk: is a fifteen to thirty minutes talk, with limited time available for questions and answers. In one session there will be two or three lightning talks. 2. Full length session: this is usually a presentation for sixty or ninety minutes. Full sessions are great for a more in debth topic which is covered in more detail.
We are looking forward to your topic proposals.
Sincerely,
Austin Pinto. member of NVDA con planning and promotion committee.

If you installed all of the voices and only wanted to keep the english ones the other voices can be uninstalled from program and features i think it is called in the control panel. You will need to go down the list and uninstall the voices you do not want.
If you want the english ones only you will need to note which ones they are.
Under the voice settings menu to get there press the ctrl key + nvda key + the letter V it should tell you what synth package you are using there. Tab down to change and change to speech platform.
When you have changed it then after that you can tab to voices then arrow down or up the list to see which ones they are.
I do not play with the languages as i only speak english and only use english voices.
I think also there is a add on called switch synth you can get from the add on web page that some use but not me.

Hi
the link to the drop box where you can get the speech platform synth and voices is https://www.dropbox.com/s/0rokrf6a4qijsvf/Speech%20Platform%2011%20engine%20and%20voices.zip?dl=0
The speech hub package is only in english all of the synth and voices. You will need to install the add on as well for nvda to see the package after the main file has been installed.
the add on can be found under c: drive then program files x86 then speech hub then i think it is the add on it is the top folder called add on. it will need to be installed the usual way for nvda to see the package.
The link to this one from drop box is https://www.dropbox.com/s/28lcflys6ebbmtk/SpeechHubInstall.exe?dl=0
I think the following website if i remember right you can get free TTS voices as well. if i remember right you do not have to buy the package as the synths and voices which are free can be installed. I thin there are commercial ones but you have to buy them. I thought i had lost this link a long time ago.

Hi v
Not sure if any of the voices in the speech platform package will suit your needs. there are voices for both english and other languages that i do not speak
I can drop box them for you they are about 340 meg with all voices and the speech platform runtime engine.
You will need a program like 7 zip or one that can unzip the files for you first. When done look for the speech platform runtime engine and install it first. It is the only file that does not have the name of the file with TTS in in standing for text to speech and the name of the voice and language.
You can get it from my drop box account at https://www.dropbox.com/s/0rokrf6a4qijsvf/Speech%20Platform%2011%20engine%20and%20voices.zip?dl=0
The speech hub package also has other synths and voices but in a package and can be gotten off the following website at http://www.speakon.org.uk/
When you download the speech hub package you will also need to install the add on so nvda can see the synths and voices. So the main package will get installed then under your c: drive program files x86 then speech hub then the folder for the add on it will need to be installed into nvda. Then later on you can change to those other synth and voices.
There may be other software there that you may like to try.

Abbie Taylor <abbietaylor945@...>
I had a similar issue several years ago when I upgraded from Windows 7 to 10. I finally called the Microsoft Disability Answer Desk, and the agent to whom I spoke installed a new sound driver for me. You might give that a try. Good luck. -- Abbie Johnson Taylor, Author http://www.abbiejohnsontaylor.comhttp://abbiescorner.wordpress.comabbietaylor945@...

Re: Copying an Entire Column of Data from a Table Inserted Into a Web Page?
Kenny <kwashingtonbox@...>
Tried several things to highlight/copy column information found in a web page table with no luck.
"copytables. ?" I'll take a look at that Chrome plug-in. Thanks.

Say I land on a column that has 25 rows of information I want to copy to the clipboard. Is there a keyboard shortcut to tell NVDA to highlight and entire column or row? Then I could simply hit [Ctrl+c] to copy the highlighted data to the clipboard. No. This is more a windows thing than an NVDA thing. You may be able to highlight the whole table, by selecting from the top to the bottom, but I don't know that will work in all situations, especially if the table is unusual (A CSS table, for example).
You can select each individual cell, and copy that to the clipboard; but that will be very tedius.
The only NVDAish thing I can think of, is using the speech viewer--Navigate the column you want to copy, then copy and paste out of the speech viewer. That will be messy, but it will work.
Other solutions depend on your browser. If you are using Chrome, there are several plugins for this, including copytables.
If you are using Firefox, you are supposed to be able to hold down control and select each cell in a row or column that you want, then copy with control-c. Unfortunately, this doesn't work with NVDA, because NVDA is using control to let you navigate those cells. I suppose you could do it by playing with focus and simulating mouse movements, etc., but that seems like rather a lot of work.
Basically, we would need an addon to do this well in NVDA, and even then it might be browser specific.
Also other then the above shortcut keys for navigating a Table by column or row, are there any others? Ones for navigating/manipulating table data inserted in a web page that is? Look at the Easy Table Navigator addon. It provides "alternative" commands to the defaults, involving fewer keys. Who knows, you may even be able to get the firefox thing to work using that.
