I love uBlock Origin, use it myself, and recommend it highly.  If I'm reading the original message correctly, though, it would not have any impact whatsoever, as this seems to me to be describing a message from Windows itself, not delivered via a web browser.

By the way, it would be really helpful to have documented both the exact delivery method and the exact message text, too.

The latest release is now 2021.1.

If you want to go with a 2020 release for the VM for the moment, and I wouldn't unless add-on compatibility is an issue, then 2020.4 would make the most sense.

Sorry, but I think you somehow misread my explanations.

I do get sound in the VM. The Windows' system sound do work, as well as
listening to YouTube videos from within FireFox ran in the VM.

So the issue seems a bit more involved.

Coming to the problem. The VM works. We can hear Windows' system sounds

within the VM and that will produce sound.

What does not work is that NVDA does not speak and that even the sounds
one is supposed to hear when it starts up or when it stops can't be

The speech synthetizers (Windows OneCore voices for french) are
installed but it is not possible to listen to a sample.

Almost the same goes for the narrator, the difference bbeing that it's

But I can believe teaser messages, but not anything that allows actual updating to happen as of the date of this message.  That'll come months from now.

weather plus addon

Don H

Running latest released versions of Win 10 and NVDA. I downloaded and installed version 8.3 of weather plus addon and installed it. As part of the addon install I restarted nvda. Now I go into the NVDA settings weatherplus and try to set or manage cities. If i hit the space bar on this option nothing happens, if I hit enter on the option the menue closes. So how do you set your cities when you can't open the settings to do so. I also tried to reboot my computer after installing the addon and I still can't set the cities.

Hello,

before I would file an issue on NVDA's github, I ask here, if anyone has a solution:
yesterday I deleted accidantly some files from my local folder, which is synced with my onedrive. then onedrive pushed a notification, if I want to delete them also from onedrive and in the systray its icon changed status from up to date to requiers attention or something like that.
When I tried to interact with onedrive, it was impossible, both NVDA with normal mode and with the obbject review and Narrator were unable to read its interface and said "unknown" or did not see any object.
So, how could I interact with it or should I file a bug on NVDA's side?
But due to this issue exist also with Narrator, there is perhaps also a bug in onedrive's side.

thanks for your kind help.

best regards,
Jožef

It probably won’t come to my system without some hardware changes. It’s only from 2017 but still lacks the requisite TPM as far as I know.

In any case I haven’t decided yet whether I’ll keep using Windows past 2024 or 25 or whenever windows 10 goes out of support. I might not. Linux is starting to look attractive again.

I knew there was an option for it. I didn’t take it because I wasn’t sure if that windows 7 box can handle ten.  I’m going to do this. I’ll google to see if Microsoft is going to push us to get this windows 11 updates. If so, we should find out how you can have the option to have it if you choose it. If you choose not to have windows 11 then we should find out how to choose not to have it. I did get a notification for windows update 2 weeks ago. I heard nothing about updating to windows 11.  I’m going to find out if you can opt out of the update if you don’t want it.

All of my users by myself can't get this new update and I have half a mind to simply not bother getting it at least till I get a second system that will run it and one of my users gets the update at least.

At least not for the moment.

I still want windows 10 feature updates so don't want to block windows 11, but if I am the only one able to get windows update to 11 and with all the user account goings on under home, it looks like for now its either load win11 home, login and get my pro licence and then whatever or login, make a local, switch to that and kill the online account signin or install windows 10, create the account offline then install 11.

Unsure as a gamer and general user if its worth getting windows 11 at least right away.
