thanks Gene, I am familiar with object navigation and that was how I was trying to access the list, using NVDA + num pad 4 and 6 to move up and down it. I gave up and called in sighted assistance this

I don't know if other NVDA users have had different mileage to me, but I have the beep for caps option on, and it only beeps if I'm navigating letter by letter. The minute I go word by word or reading

I agree that it's when I'm proof reading that I find the beep for capitals helpful. I have a configuration profile for editing documents before I submit them anywhere, in which I have the punctuation
