I am not sure, but I think using the F1 key is a windows key command and not specific to a screenreader. What you get when you press the f1 key depends on the app you are using and what you are doing.

You have to give more info. What version of windows, nvda, are you using? What is your browser? What program are you using when the freeze occurs? Be as specific as you can.
