Examples of terms/phrases?
I am currently using eSpeak NG, using gene variant, and set to just english, and haven't come across anything like that, but, would like to try it out.

If you switched to a different synthesizer and the buzzing noise persists, you might be seeing the effect of playing a sound for spelling errors while typing function. Read the What's New for more information, but press Control+NVDA+K to turn it off in the Keyboard Settings dialog. As it relates to eSpeak NG being overwritten by older eSpeak, this cannot be done. The best option is to download the SpeechPlayer in eSpeak add-on: http://files.nvaccess.org/nvda-addons/speechPlayerInEspeak-0.3.nvda-addonand use to the variant of your liking.

Have you tried other variants, or try changing pitch/inflection?
Ask since, yes, if I switch to english-US, and max variant, does sound at times like a bit of a background huff sound, but, don't hear anything like that with the combination I use most of the time?

I haven't tryed other voices,
I am using max set to english not english-us.
it's ony a problem when I
1 go to 100% instead of 99% or belo
I don't miss one percent of speed so ok
2 when I need to crank up the speed to get threw a lot of reading like check the Rate boost box and set speed to 50 or 60 %

Well, I'd just suggest, at least, trying a couple of other variants - like said, Gene is my current primary one is Gene, and he doesn't seem to have have same issue - even if I set rate to 100%, but, you could also try adjusting inflection, etc., just in case, if you specifically prefer max variant.

hi
I all ways used the default nvda max english voice, I am disappointed in the changes made to espeak in nvda I think starting with nvda 2015 or may be as far back as 2014. Were the changes made to espeak by nvda devel or the creator of espeak. I would like a choice in nvda setup to be able to pick witch espeak to install. I feal the need for speed quite freequently and to have that fluttering sound in there when the check box for rate boost is checked so I can get up to a 600 to 800 words per min is disruptive. I am still trying to get used to it.

... How can anyone understand what's being read or enjoy what they're reading at such outrageous speeds? I've never changed NVDA from its default rate with espeak. And how can you even tell there's fluttering if the synth is yammering on so fast you can barely make out the words? I just tested it and I can't make out what's being said at all. If I didn't know the contents of the dialogue, I'd be lost.

hi
I have been using screen readers since 95 in windows except for an old apple 2 e in the late 80s with textalker.
I do slow down first thing in the morning, uncheck the rate boost and set speed to 100 % .
To me nvda set to 30 % sounds like if you set yours to 0 % or slower.
I am just used to it fast.

The reason I have it at default speed is it sounds as close to natural as a synth can. That's also why I have inflection set to 100. I can't bear synths without an inflection setting because I've been rather spoiled by espeak. I tried Vocaliser two years ago and just couldn't take it because however humanlike the voices sounded, they were also more robotic-sounding to me than espeak with max inflection. Two of the voices I used were also a bit on the slow side, but adjusting rate didn't help matters.
I honestly can't stand hearing screen-readers going faster than my settings in tutorials. I understand time constraints but that wouldn't make me ramp up the speed.

I have been using screen readers since 95 in windows except for an old apple 2 e in the late 80s with textalker.
I do slow down first thing in the morning, uncheck the rate boost and set speed to 100 % .
To me nvda set to 30 % sounds like if you set yours to 0 % or slower.
I am just used to it fast.

Hi Pete, I'd suggest the same thing I suggested before. That is, file an issue at < http:///github.com/espeak-ng/espeak-ng/issues>. If you don't have an account on GitHub, I can do it for you. Please describe the error in detail, as I use the same version of eSpeak (with occassionally the English voice) with rate set to 30 or 40 with rate boost and I find no problems. Or perhaps I missunderstood you, and you use different parameteres. RegardsSukil
