Updated the wiki
I updated the applications support wiki. I cleaned up the grammar a bit and added one page for all the Microsoft products and services. I also added numerous links to the LibreOffice accessibility wiki and some more small changes. Let me know what you think.

Are there any accessible Pub-Reading programs? I especially would use this with Braille support, which offers viewing of formatted text, at least in Safari and Microsoft Word. I’ve tried the Pub-Reader in Firefox, and some controls, especially to move from moving from page to page to section to section are not shown with NVDA, nor JAWS. Also, at least with Bookshare books, “chapters” of the book end of shown as major parts all in one document, and reopening the book takes me all the way back to the top. I’ve also tried Adobe Digital Editions, but the titles of books I add are not shown, only “by” or “new” is read as I navigate the bookshelf. And no, I do not want to just convert them to Word or anything, as that defeats the whole purpose of Epub in the first place.

Hello,
I've got to using Microsoft Edge to read epub files lately. There is a huge thing called Virtual Shelf something, but I didn't like it at all, so Edge has become my best friend when I want to keep the kinks and formatting of the ebook. Otherwise I use Qread, which is a paid app, but works a treat if you are happy with a single file, where you can search the book, export to txt, and much more. Ciao, hth, Ollie

Hi,
Out of curiosity, what is Google Chrome’s accessibility status based on? The page currently says that “works somewhat well with NVDA”, but what does that actually mean, and when was that written?
I use it on a daily basis, and I’m finding that it works far better on my machine compared to Mozilla Firefox, at least in terms of speed. Performance-wise, I haven’t noticed anything thus far. I’ve been able to do everything that I could with Firefox without exception. To me, that statement feels inaccurate, but I’m wondering about it. I used Firefox for years until I got tired of it.
I also disagree with Thunderbird as a recommended e-mail client. I completely switched away from it a couple of weeks ago due to freezes, slow response when typing, a big delay when deleting messages before the next focused message would be reported, etc. I was against doing this at first, since I’ve just been used to Thunderbird and how it operates for years.
Granted, my machine is six years old, but I feel the excellent performance, both by Windows 10 Mail and Google Chrome, speak to how well these applications stack up in comparison. I definitely have not been able to communicate and browse the web this quickly for the last many years, but Firefox and Thunderbird were the only alternatives I was comfortable with at the time, until I got curious enough and took the plunge.
I’m hoping I can get some insight on this. As my experiences go, I feel like that application support page should be updated to reflect this. I can’t really get behind these statements for either application, and I’m curious as to when these were actually edited. I can’t see earlier revisions than those made seven hours ago, and I feel a lot of these details were glossed over. More in-depth information would be appreciated on this page, especially for programs which provide similar functionality. Saying something works “somewhat well with NVDA” is fine, except that lacks a lot of useful details for people wanting to make an informed decision.
Thanks!

Hi, I use vitalSource Bookshelf as my primary ePUB reader with the

placeMarkers NVDA add-on, to manage bookmarks and notes for each document. You can use control+repag and control+avpag to move between chapters, f6 to switch between panels, for instance, the document and navigation bar with a tree of chapters, control+b to focus the library, control+f to search in the book from the navigation bar, and NVDA's browse mode gestures in each chapter. I describe this here since unfortunately the evaluation of this reader hasn't been posted at epubtest.org, where other apps for ePUB have been evaluated wit NVDA. I evaluated Adobe Digital Editions (not recommended for me), and Azardi (good for ePUB with audio or Javascript. A fellow member of the volunteers which test ePUB reading system, hosted by Daisy Consortium, evaluated Kindle with NVDA. About Edge, I have to evaluate it but I couldn't do it the previous weekend. I will sharethe link if reviewers of Daisy Consortium post the evaluation. Some of the issues I find in Edge are: 1. Words are sometimes splitted in two lines, which affects pronnounciation. 2. NVDA+v doesn't work and links can't be put in a new line. 3. Notes can't be added in browse mode, but they are supported in focus mode, which is great and required for ePUB reading systems. Here some links: VitalSource Bookshelf webpage: https://support.vitalsource.com/hc/en-us/articles/201344733-Bookshelf-Download-Page Azardi: http://azardi.infogridpacific.com/ Evaluations: Kindle with NVDA 2018.1 and 2018.2, by Josh Andrews: http://epubtest.org/evaluation/456/ ADE: http://epubtest.org/evaluation/479/ Azardi: http://epubtest.org/evaluation/463/ Hope this helps. 2018-06-21 9:41 GMT+02:00, Mallard <mallard@...>:
Hello,

I plan on updating it again over the next week, but it's not gonna happen anytime soon. The good news is, anyone can edit it! Markdown is a lot easier to use than HTML by the way. I'm gonna add the Kindle for PC link today though.

Hi Robert, If you need help with the wiki, I would be glad to lend a hand. Do you edit it directly?
Thanks.

It looks like anyone can edit the wiki if they have a github account. Yeah, I don't fork it or anything I just edit it directly. I do, however, plan on making a seperate page talking about how accessible the portable apps suite is, and the accessible portable software out there. I use portableapps to try software without bogging down my registry which is nice! Does anybody know if you can create a child page underneath that one? Yeah, the more people editing it, the better, in my opinion, so if you have a git hub account, brush up on your markdown and edit it directly.
