Holger Fiallo <hfiallo@...>
Hi,

How do I make sure they are gone? Need to make sure this does not happen again.

I've also noticed this over the past few weeks. Microsoft is posting a lot of adverts via push notification about different sales. Really want to turn this off completely for it is annoying!
Also using the latest build of Windows 10.

I have no idea whether this will work, but I think I've had two ads ever since I started using Windows 10 in 2015. The very first thing I did was to go through the Privacy Settings, pane by pane, to lock things down as much as one could then. I don't use the personal digital assistant feature of Cortana, and that might have an effect, and I do not return web search results in Windows searches.
But the thing I'd try is in the General pane of Privacy settings, and it's the first toggle: Let apps use advertising ID to make ads more interesting to you based on your app usage (turning this off will reset your ID). Mine has been OFF since somewhere in the first week of the debut of Windows 10. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1803, Build 17134 A little kindness from person to person is better than a vast love for all humankind. ~ Richard Dehmel

By the way, I also have turned OFF these two toggles in that same pane:

Yup. opt out of as much as you can. I cant’ recall the last time or if I’ve ever had to deal with one of these.

One issue I've noticed recently is a change to Google. The search results are prefixed by some kind of organisation link, but it seems very time consuming and the default keeps on putting graphic and video results first. Also some crafty person has managed to circumvent ad blockers by having the link which used to go straight to the page go to a landing page crammed with adverts, in my case for no good reason all about drug stores! Finding the link you need to carry on to the actual site is often very difficult indeed. Has anyone else encountered this. Is it time to ditch Google in favour of some other search engine?
