Chrome automatically updates itself and the user
can't stop it. Use Firefox for sites where you have this problem. It
isn't clear to me what the problem is. Is the problem that when you do a
search such as a google search, you don't see the links in the results displayed
as clickable links or you don't see the address of the sites in the results
showing where the result leads?

I said you can't stop chrome updating but evidently
you can. If you set UAc to its highest level, you can say no when it asks
you to allow Chrome to update. You will have to do this at some point
after you start Chrome, probably every time you start it. However, it may
not be worth the risk. Some Windows users, particularly of Windows 10
though evidently now and then in earlier versions, have had a problem where the
yes button disappears from UAC. If you set UAC to 100, this the results of
the problem are evidently far more serious than if they are set at the default
level. Also, it isn't a good idea to run old versions of browsers for
security reasons.
It would be better to use a different browser such
as Firefox until this problem is resolved. And, since it may be that
Chrome breaks things in upgrades related to accessibility more than Firefox,
using Firefox in general might be preferred.
However, I don't know what problem you are
describing. I am using the latest release version of Chrome 52.x, and I
have no problem working with or seeing everything in Google searches. Are
you using the nonbeta program or a beta?

hello, it is the first option you mention.
when i do a google search i don't see the links.
and the most strange in this situation is, i see the rule that
you find under the link, i can read it.
when i go with the arrow up, therw where i supose the link, i
press enter, the link is working as usual!
so, the link is there, only not read by nvda.
i don't know what that is.
cheers

ok, but when you tell me that you have no problem to see the
links, i think there is something else wrong.
but i don't know what it is.
when i search on google, there are the results but the links will
not be spoken.
but they are stil there.
when i go to a result, i press one time uparrow, there where i
know there is the place of the link and i press enter, the link
will open as usual.
but i don't hear or read the link it self.

Then this is evidently not an accessibility issue
and I suspect it isn't a general problem with Chrome. A sighted person
probably wouldn't see links either and an error message is generated by Chrome,
something that would not happen if this were an accessibility issue. Try
uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome. You may have gotten a bad
update.
Also, since only one other person has reported an
unclear problem with Chrome and certain links, that further supports the

That is a different problem than the other person
is having and this is an example of why, when people report problems, details
should be given. if both people had provided details, the two problems
could have been addressed as different problems from the outset and more
specific help might have been given for each problem.
I don't know what is causing the problem of links not
being read but still functioning. you could try reinstalling Chrome.
I have no idea if that would help.

hello, it is the first option you mention.
when i do a google search i don't see the links.
and the most strange in this situation is, i see the rule that you find under
the link, i can read it.
when i go with the arrow up, therw where i supose the link, i press enter,
the link is working as usual!
so, the link is there, only not read by nvda.
i don't know what that is.

please clarify. Are you saying no link on
Google results pages or no link on any pages. Also, you don't report an
error message as the other person does. We don't know when this error
message occurs. What action, if any, has been taken that causes it.
Based on your previous messages, I thought these
were two separate problems. they may be. But again, it is not clear
if your problem just occurs on Google results pages or in general. Clarity
and details are important when trying to understand and solve
problems.
I suspect these problems are two specifically
technical to be addressed effectively on this list. If reinstalling Chrome
doesn't help, you might get better help in some sort of Chrome user forum.
Perhaps there is one on the Chrome site or some other place such as Bleeping
computer.

Brian's Mail list account BY <bglists@...>
I seem to recall, that Chrome has some versions which do not update themselves. At any rate it should be possible to stop it. I did this for Drive for a while till they fixed that log in focus issue a few months back, but have forgotten how I did it now. I steer clear of software that updates itself for no reason as it could upset data limits and costs via mobile dongles if this is allowed to occur right across the board. Certainly there seems to be a way to stop this in Windows 10 now by invoking that you are connected by a metered connection. Brian
