Dropbox and nvda again

Well, We have two different machines one on 7 home the other on the main version. Both these cannot read the windows and dialogues of dropbox, though it can read the up to date, but I have asked a sighted person to look at the remote machine and they can see the preferences the share dialogue the log in dialogue which do not work on either for me.

My main issue is then, what can have caused the issue with nvda and Jaws? My guess is that its a windows DLL which has become deregistered or for changed at some point in the past, but on both machines? That does seem awfully odd. The one common things was that somebody inadvertently put Avast on them both some months ago, and I had to run avastclear to get rid of it. It was interfering with most stuff. So if anyone knows which dll is implicated in not being able to read the window types these dropbox bits use, then I'm all ears and will be happy to try putting a pristine copy back.as I said before, when I did an sfc and put the stuff back it did not fix it and indeed screwed up all the email links which meant reinstalling the email clients again. Such is life in Windows I guess. For reasons of software compatibility I cannot go windows 10 on these machines as an audio editing package which is no longer developed is in use. Brian bglists@... I can see such indications as well. I'm
becoming suspicious that this is related to the other proboem. Something
may have changed that causes this problem but it may only cause it if the other
problem exists.

I also have the same results as Clare with my Windows 10 18.09 system. I haven't used the Dropbox add on for years and I have no issues. I wonder if the report dynamic changes and/or tool tips reporting under NVDA settings is the issue for some people. On 11/24/2018 9:15 AM, Clare Page wrote:

Dropbox starts when Windows starts on my Windows 7 computer, and I no longer use the Dropbox add-on, but I still can read the preferences and get information about uploads and downloads, as I mentioned below. I don't have to open Dropbox from the desktop to get all this information, although seeing that Dropbox is up to date by reading the system tray icon is one indication that my computer is connected to the Internet and ready to use after I start it. Do you have the Dropbox AddOn for NVDA activated? With Windows10 Dropbox tells me when files are received here at my end. However what I’m finding is even though Dropbox is set to start up upon Windows, I need to open the dropbox folder for Dropbox to open up and start working. I went into MsConfig, where everything seems to be alright.

It's interesting that you have this acdcessibility problem with Dropbox, Brian, as I am still on Windows 7 here, and I can still read the Dropbox preferences, keep track of uploads and downloads in the system tray, and I still get help balloons to tell me a download has finished: I don't get told that an upload is finished, but I know it has when the Dropbox icon in the system tray includes the words "up to date". Hi I'm not quite sure when this started to occur, but somewhere along the line Dropbox does not seem to push out any kind of alert when files are coming in or indeed indicate when they are being uploaded on the tray icon.
