Please help me about Vocalizer

prem.translator@...

Dear members,
Today, I've got the following error with the computer at my workplace.

"Vocalizer License is Invalid.

[Content]
The Vocalizer license you are trying to use is invalid.
This might be happening due to one of two reasons:
1. The activation file is damaged.
2. The license was disabled for security reasons, due to illegal use or its data beeing compromized.
If you own a license for Nuance Vocalizer for NVDA, please contact Tiflotecnia, lda. or your local distributor, so the problem can be further investigated.
If this Nuance Vocalizer for NVDA license activation doesn't belong to you, please reframe from using this product.
Unauthorized use of this product (i.g. without a valid license) is not allowed by most international laws on software rights.
Please note that a proportion of the price of Nuance Vocalizer for NVDA is donated for continuing NVDA's development.
By sharing license activations you are working against NVDA and good and cheap accessibility for the blind across the world.
Further more, Nuance Vocalizer for NVDA is priced at the lowest value possible, to allow as many people as possible to have a comercial quality syntheciser in NVDA.
Please think twice about it.
You can remove this invalid license using  the Vocalizer Expressive menu options."

I have two activations, one at my workplace and one at my home.
Such problem didn't happen so far. In the morning, before going to work, I still able to use the one at my home, and on Friday, the day before my day off, I was able to use the one at my workplace.

Please help me,
Thank you.

P.S. I sent the above statement to Tiflotecnia via e-mail, and would like to ask about the problem also in the group. For now, the only synthesizer that I can use is ESpeak which doesn't support my native language.

Its likely that work had an update or something.

Talk to your admins, security software could have simply blocked your licence activation or the need to access the net, if it worked before the admins may have left it out of activation or simply blocked its access, I had similar issues with university and jaws, Things get reset frequently, and even though it was noted down I needed things to work things got blocked and forgotten and I had to tell the admins, they can probably lift that on their server.

I wonder if your computer was used by someone else on your day off or if some sort of maintainence or downloads were done to the network during that time.  Aside from just correcting the problem by having your license reactivated or renewed, finding out if something at work caused the problem would be helpful.

For now, it seems like my computer cannot connect to vocalizer's server. I'm contacting admin.

I once ran into a similar situation with one of the NVDA voices I had purchased, although I don't recall whether it was Codefactory's Nuance/Eloquence add-on or whether it was the Acapela add-on. In my case, I was on my home computer and it had nothing to do with firewall settings. In that particular instance, something had just gotten corrupted. I contacted the vendor and they were able to supply me with a valid license key which fixed the issue. If you can determine that your firewall settings are not the cause of the problem I would suggest that you contact the company which produces your add-on, which I am assuming is Codefactory, to see if a corrupted file might not be the problem.

Update my situation:

Things I have done until now.
1. Uninstall vocalizer driver and delete everything from %appdata%.
2. Download the driver and reinstall it.
3. At the activation, I get the following error.

"Error verifying credentials: Can not connect to Vocalizer for NVDA server. Please check if your internet connection is working."

4. I already contact IT department in my workplace regarding both errors. They don't know the address, IP or something like that of the Vocalizer for NVDA server, so they cannot do anything for now.
5. I sent an e-mail to Tiflotecnia regarding the problem.

What should I do next?
Thank you.

Hi. I realize that you're dealing with a machine located at work. However, if the machine is a laptop do you have permission to bring your laptop home with you? Some workplaces absolutely would not allow an employee to do this but others would permit it. If you're permitted to do so, I would take the computer home and see if you get the same message on your home network.

The computer in my workplace is PC. Anyway, In the morning at home, I can use vocalizer (with one of the activation count) without any problem. I can use it in the PC at my office for almost two years, the problem just happen today.

Well nothing, but your IT folk can surely run a trace on the IP address the licence uses to phone home and find out why its not getting through, the vendor can no doubt give you the address to give to your it folk. I'd have asked them if there had been any change over the time you were off, often the smoking gun approach can save a lot of time if they know what they are doing they can simply put an exception into a firewall for that address.

Today, I just arrive at my office, and still get the following error:

"Error verifying credentials: Can not connect to Vocalizer for NVDA server. Please check if your internet connection is working."

There is no problem happening to laptop at my home.

Where did you purchase the Vocalizer Voices? I bought mine from Code
Factory, and I too have had some issues with the voices not working.

I think mine was caused by my getting an update to Win 7. this might
have been about 8 months ago.

I have contacted Code Factory, but nothing they told me to do has worked.
I was finally told I may need to reinstall Win 7, and then everything
else again.

When I asked what files could I erase, that were Code Factory files,
they acted dumb and never responded back.

So, on that machine, I am using Jaws only.

Well, you could remove the entire addon and all files in your \users\username\roming\nvda\addons folder
