using. Also, are you reading mail as plain text or as HTML.

When I open an e-mail message, even though my messages are read
automatically, I manually issue the read to end command before or at the
moment reading starts. I find this more efficient in starting reading
faster and avoiding material I don't want read. I have already heard
the subject line. If I tell the message to be read manually, this
material is not spoken again and the message body starts to be read.
You may have to experiment to see how long to wait before issuing the
command after opening a message.

There are times when getting in the habit of manually issuing a command
is superior to having something done automatically unless you know how
to script a screen-reader to do exactly what you want it to do. Issuing
such a command will become automatic over time.

I was going to suggest the same thing: turn on SayAll in BrowseMode, and
then:

Using Thunderbird as the mail client, I found that on opening most
messages, NVDA would get super chatty, reading and rereading headings,
but, I'd just tap the up arrow and the message body would be read. Very
nice.
But this may not work in WLM., and it doesn't work with certain messages.

The below written stuff might give you a idea of what to do.

Except instead of the application that was used you would use the one you mentioned. So you would have to go into the program as mentioned in the first part of the tutorial and the second part you would make your changes such as use the say all command. I actually when i write this was triggered when you went into the application to do it

I would use the say all command i know on the desk top is the nvda key + the down arrow key.

Actually there is a audio tutorial on the nvda audio tutorial page on how to make a profile or 4 there as well.

The written stuff is below and may need to be tidied up.

Creating a configuration profile with NVDA

 

Has there ever been a time When you have wanted NVDA to speak formatting in a word document such as Microsoft word, but not in another document such as a HTML page on the web. Would you like NVDA to read in one voice on a webpage and another voice in a document. By setting up different configuration profiles in NVDA this can be done and customized to your liking with a profile. You will need to setup a profile for each application you want to do it to.

 

The profile will be triggered when you go into that application with your settings you had tailored for that profile. So no matter what other application you may go into when you come back to the one you had set up, when it is opened it will be automatically triggered.

 

 

If you are setting up a application profile such as Microsoft word, you will need to go into that application first. For example Microsoft Word

 

While NVDA is running, press the NVDA key + the CTRL key + the letter PThis will bring up the configuration profiles menu.

 

NVDA will default to the normal configuration profile. This is the profile or settings you have at present.

 

Next tab to the new button, then press the enter key. NVDA will say profile name. Here type in the name for that profile. For example Microsoft word with formatting. Once typed, tab once and then you will hear NVDA say use this profile for  grouping manual activation radio button checked. When you hear this arrow down until you hear NVDA say current application . For example winword radio button checked. Next tab to the ok button then press the enter key. While you are still in the application make sure it is in focus, press the NVDA key + the CTRL key + the letter P again. This will bring back up your configuration profiles menu. Locate your profile. For example Microsoft word with formatting. Next tab until you hear NVDA say triggers, then press the enter key. You will hear NVDA say . for example current application winword

Make all of your changes you want to make in that application. For example turn on all the formatting you want to hear, pick your voice you want to use and so on. You can alt/tab to the application so it is in front of you then make changes with NVDA. If you would like to change any of the reporting of formatting you want to hear go into the document formatting section in NVDA and make your changes. Do the same if you want to change synthsisers or voices and so on and tailor NVDA to your liking in that profile. Make sure you save your changes if you are happy with them with the CTRL key +the NVDA key + the letter C You might want to say your changes in steps for that profile.

 

When you are happy with the new profile you have setup, tab once and you will hear NVDA say profile combo box Microsoft word with formatting. Tab to the close button then press the enter key.  This will put you back into the configuration profiles menu in NVDA. You might hear NVDA say profile list Microsoft word with formatting editing triggered. Next tab to the close button then press the enter key. Your configuration will now be saved.

 

To set up other application pacific profiles go into what ever application it is and repeat the steps mentioned above, but setup a new profile each time for the new application.

 

Deleting out your profile

 

Press the CTRL key + NVDA key + the letter P this will bring up the configuration profiles menu in NVDA.  NVDA will land on the configuration profiles dialogue  profile list. Locate the profile you want to delete with the down or up arrow keys. For example Microsoft Word with formatting profile

 

Next tab to the delete button then press the enter key. NVDA will ask you if you want to delete  that profile. It will tell you it can not be undone. Tab to the yes button, then press the enter key.Next tab to the close button, then press the entr key and it will be gone.

For more information on Configuration profiles please see the section named Configuration profiles in the user manual.

 

When this was written it was for what most people might do.

There is also a setting so when you go into the application one of the triggers instead of the application can be the say all command. I have not used it.
