Just wondering if Tiflotecnia offers demos of their Vocalizer add-on? I went to their download page and downloaded the latest driver and a bundle of English compact voices. I installed them and got a message that the demo was expired. Am I doing something wrong, or is there no demo available.

It's unfortunate that the same absurd demo system
is still being used years after I encountered it. A demo is released that
won't run after a certain date. Whether a new demo is released before an
updated driver comes out is something I don't know. But this is
absurd. Why can't demos time out after a certain number of days or
hours of use or something that makes the demo available in a way that people can
use it when they want to consider the program, not only before a certain
date.
Can the company change this or is this something
imposed by the product manufacturer?

At the begin, Nuance did not allow us to make a demo license... So, we have put the scheme of the driiver be valid during a certain number of days... But, that implies that we have to release new drivers regularly...
In the last two years, or so, we decided to do not have demos...
In the next version we will have again a 15 days demo automatically...

That's good. People expect a demo and I would

I have to say that I just purchased both old and new Vocalizer
Nuance products from Tiflotecnia and they work well with NVDA.
Customer service was excellent and all my questions were answered
promptly. These kinds of one-sided discussions make me wonder why
anybody tries to do business at all on the Internet. Thanks Rui
for all you do!

Totally agree with Richard Wells. For now, vocalizer from Tiflotecnia works well with NVDA and their customer service is excellent. The team always assists me whenever I faced any problems, like the last case I posted in the list, I contacted the team off list, and they help me until the problem is solved.

No working demo of the voices, no listening to sample of the voices working with NVDA, no new update with new voices or added or fixed features in over two years... I'm sorry but no matter how good the customer support might be, this is not a company I want to throw my money at. If other users do, please have at it. I am glad some can make use of their product. I feel that it is a waste of money, and that this company is not one I would trust with a single additional dollar. I purchased this product a while back and I regret it very much. The licensing scheme is stupid, a user has no control to reset his or her own keys if needed without contacting the support, the driver has bugs which haven't been addressed, no new voices are supported even still after being promised an update for years no, and I am supposed to just blindly trust this company to keep supporting their products?
Again, anyone who knows me that this is not how I like to respond to individuals or companies on any list, and I generally have some amount of patience, reminding users of product development cycles and such, always looking for the value in a product or service. After so many broken promises and lack of follow-through, I am unable to put any weight behind this product, or the company represented.
Thanks.

Nimer: You are actually expressing my feels about Code Factory.
Having dealt with both, I choose Tiflotecnia. By the way, you got
one thing wrong. Removing an authorization does put it back in
your available activations to be used again. I bought my original
add-ons from A. T. Guys and even they have a devil of a time
getting Code Factory to respond to their requests for
authorization resets. To keep this on topic, I am just glad I do
now have a workable solution for high-quality voices for NVDA.

Hi,
Okay, this is all new to me. I thought code factory was the only
company that sold vocalizer voices hense why I didn't go with
them.
Is there a link pointing to this other companie's offerings and
how does licensing work?
Similarly, I'm lothed to throw the ridiculous amount of money at
code factory for NVDA eloquence.

I'm sorry but no matter how good the customer support

at. If other users do, please have at it. I am glad some
can make use of their product. I feel that it is a waste
of money, and that this company is not one I would trust
with a single additional dollar. I purchased this product
a while back and I regret it very much. The licensing
scheme is stupid, a user has no control to reset his or
her own keys if needed without contacting the support, the
driver has bugs which haven't been addressed, no new
voices are supported even still after being promised an
update for years no, and I am supposed to just blindly
trust this company to keep supporting their products?
Again, anyone who knows me that this is not how I like
to respond to individuals or companies on any list, and I
generally have some amount of patience, reminding users of
product development cycles and such, always looking for
the value in a product or service. After so many broken
promises and lack of follow-through, I am unable to put
any weight behind this product, or the company
represented.
Thanks.

Hi,
Well that's frustrating. $115 USD is quite a bit of money to
shell out for just vocalizer voices. I wouldn't use them enough to
pay that price.
thanks for the link.

Is there a link pointing to this other companie's offerings

Similarly, I'm lothed to throw the ridiculous amount of money

So long as you can prepare in advance, or you remember to deactivate your license, then you are right, activation and deactivation works well enough. I wonder how many mainstream products force a user to activate and deactivate a product though. Hell, Windows ties activation to your e-mail address. It doesn't make you deactivate your computer if you format your drive, lose your information, or whatever. Anyway, each to their own. I've stated my opinion on this product, and if you feel that you have gotten value out of their product, then there you go.
Thanks.
