outlook is working again...

Hey guys.

Outlook is working normally again, Temporarily. I think the issue has to do with  the processor on this machine.

I’m glad outlook is working normally again for now. Let us know if it acts up again.

Hi, Molly,

You might have to call the Microsoft disability line number and have them help you if outlook acts up again.

If thats the case the machine may be full of dust and need a clear out.

Get a sightling to see if all the fans are spinning right.

I have had bad ram sticks, and faulty cpu fans cause issues, the power supply could also have issues.

Failing that, I'd remove and regrease the heatsink it doesn't hurt to do this from time to time.

I would be getting pretty annoyed by now if a Microsoft branded pc with Microsoft software messed about as much as yours does, personally.

Can you for now send 1 or 2 emaisl at a time then compact its data base to see if that might help?

Take care

Well just that this machine is slow sometimes.
I know of other people who have this exact same model and most of them say

Hi,
Actually, for Outlook problem, it might not be the processor at all. There
was an issue discussed not long ago where if you open a certain message (or
messages formatted in certain way) in Outlook with NVDA running, Outlook
would crash. I'm thinking you may have encountered that one.
Cheers,
Joseph

Do you have to use Outlook because of school requirements or are you just using it?  I've said before on various lists that by far, I see more complaints about Outlook than other popular e-mail programs among blind users and I would avoid using it if it were me, unless there were some reason I needed to do so.

Hi,
Yes this combination has created occasional crashes here as well. I have no
idea what the combination of factors causing this may be. Here, the crashes
will happen repeatedly on a message when trying to open it.
Best,

Hello.

I’m actually using outlook for two reasons. First because it’s a requirement for school. And the other reason is simply that I’m very familiar with it. I’ve never actually used any other email programs on my computers except sometimes I use the Windows 10 mail app.

Since it’s a requirement for school, you are stuck for now.  At some point, if you don't have to use it, if you try a program like Thunderbird, or another standard e-mail program, you will find Thunderbird similar in terms of a lot of commands and many procedures. You will also likely find other standard e-mail programs to be similar.

To reply to a message in the old Windows Live Mail program and in Thunderbird is control r.  To send a message is control s and there may be another command I never use and don't recall.

To start a new message is control n.  Those are just a few examples.

Subject: Re: [nvda] outlook is working again...

Hi,
Actually, for Outlook problem, it might not be the processor at all. There
was an issue discussed not long ago where if you open a certain message (or
messages formatted in certain way) in Outlook with NVDA running, Outlook
would crash. I'm thinking you may have encountered that one.
Cheers,
Joseph

Well just that this machine is slow sometimes.
I know of other people who have this exact same model and most of them say
the processor is slow and lags a bit. I don't have this problem on my other
machine.

What information made you believe that the processor was the problem?

Antony.

Hello.

I’m actually using outlook for two reasons. First because it’s a requirement for school. And the other reason is simply that I’m very familiar with it. I’ve never actually used any other email programs on my computers except sometimes I use the Windows 10 mail app.

Do you have to use Outlook because of school requirements or are you just using it?  I've said before on various lists that by far, I see more complaints about Outlook than other popular e-mail programs among blind users and I would avoid using it if it were me, unless there were some reason I needed to do so.
