Extraneous text in Windows Settings after 1809 upgrade
Chris Mullins
Hi I have just upgraded from Windows 1803 to 1809 and now when I use the ~Windows Settings app I hear the following :
CN=Microsoft Windows, O=Microsoft Corporation, L=Redmond, S=Washington, C=US
It sounds like the type of thing a developer would put into a program when debugging to check variable contents at a particular point in execution. Does anyone else get this?

Same here. Seems to be system-specific, though, as it does not happen

A few weeks ago someone sent me a debug log of this problem, and it appears it is a live region text that is being read by NvDA. I can't reproduce this on my systems running 1809 and later, but that doesn't mean I have forgotten about this problem. Cheers, Joseph -----Original Message-----

Makes me wonder why that live region would be present on some systems

Hi all,
I get the problem on some machines and not on some others. Here, it seems that it does not happen on machines that have drectly been setup with 1809, but happen on those which have got to 1809 by upgrading previous versions. But 5 machines are not enough to make sure.

No mine got an upgrade, not direct of 1809. My machine is from origin though. It's hand made, well customized anyway On 27 Feb 2019, at 8:28, Michel Such wrote:

Onmy Pc,with "windows+i" , I ear also this words. I don't think it's a live region. It's the name of a static window. This is the windows hierarchy: niveau 1 windowClass: ApplicationFrameTitleBarWindow, name: Paramètres, role: fenêtre, description: , value: Paramètres windowClass: Windows.UI.Core.CoreWindow, name: CN=Microsoft Windows, O=Microsoft Corporation, L=Redmond, S=Washington, C=US, role: fenêtre, description: , value: None réduit 2 sur 4 niveau 1 windowClass: ApplicationFrameTitleBarWindow, name: Paramètres, role: fenêtre, description: , value: Paramètres 3 sur 4 niveau 1 windowClass: ApplicationFrameInputSinkWindow, name: None, role: inconnu, description: None, value: 4 sur 4 niveau 1 Cheers. This text that NVDA reads, it seems to be gone from my machine today. Maybe a windows update fixed it?

These are part of a directory service or such. Both Active Directory and LDAP use these types of fields, and in Outlook/Exchange you can find something similar in the list of alternative addresses for a e-mail.
Quoting below from: Stack Overflow https://stackoverflow.com/questions/18756688/what-are-cn-ou-dc-in-an-ldap-search
These are all parts of the X.500 Directory Specification, which defines nodes in a LDAP directory. |

I get this as well, I don't yet find it annoying enough to reformat yet but I did it on another machine and it did fix the problem.
