Can anyone provide the link to the chat group? I have few tech questions, not realted to NVDA. I tried the Blind tech group, but it's not very active.

Perhaps there is more than one group with a similar
name. The Blindtech group, that is just named Blindtech is active. I
estimate I get about forty or fifty messages a day.
I don't have the exact subscription address.
If someone doesn't send it, I'll check.
There is another similar list, Techtalk.

Things tend to go in fits and starts on lists. I have always noticed that.

I do however have a supplemental question. What is the difference between a sub group and a different group, ie This list and a group completely differently named rather than a list with nvda in its name but having chat in its name. I don't think there is any true difference. it might be better if there was just a list of lists and left at that. Brian bglists@... Sent via blueyonder. What is the difference between a sub group and a different group, ieWhat it boils down to is that a subgroup is, for all practical intents and purposes, another group but with restricted membership. Under the Groups.io schema the only people who can be members of a subgroup must be members of the main group first and remain a member of the main group. If one unsubscribes from the parent group one is automatically unsubscribed from all subgroups for that parent group one might have joined. So you must be a member of the NVDA Group itself before you can join the Chat Subgroup, and you can, of course, be only a member of the NVDA Group without joining the Chat Subgroup. The way I see it, from a practical standpoint and particularly for technical groups, is that the arrangement can be and often is used to foster a sense of community while at the same time keeping the main group with its technical focus while the chat subgroup is for "hanging out with your cyber friends/acquaintances" from the main group and discussing whatever you wish. With all the complaints about "too much traffic" that I see (and I don't necessarily mean only here), the seeming resistance to using the Groups.io controls to let you limit traffic in many cases, and the natural desire for folks who know each other and trust each other on one thing often wanting to reach out about something else, the group/subgroup schema can keep all parties - those desiring something close to topic purity, and those who wish to be able to venture farther afield - happy and out of each other's respective hair and inboxes. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep. ~ Saul Bellow, To Jerusalem and Back

Um he meant the NVDA chat group not Blind Tech. Didn’t think that group was still around.

In case nobody came up with the address to the Blindtech list, it is blindtech+subscribe@groups.io.

It isn't clear what you are discussing. the
subject is for a link to a chat group. Are you discussing that or the main
lists? Blindtech, the main list has a good deal more traffic. I
don't know how membership compares on the chat or the main lists.

Gene,
The original query was: "Can anyone provide the link to the chat group? I have few tech questions, not related to NVDA." The intent, at least to me, was clearly that the address information to the NVDA Chat Subgroup, which I'll repeat here, is what was being sought.
Rosemarie Chavarria kindly provided this information initially, and we've since had a lot of thread drift, which is not unusual. The day is soon to be upon us when the kind of attention to the nature of the topic being introduced that was shown by Sociohack AC will begin being enforced. That attention is appreciated. People need to be asking themselves the simple question, "Is what I'm about to ask related to using NVDA to get something done, or about configuring NVDA itself?," and if the answer is, "Yes," it's an NVDA main group topic and if it's, "No," it's either an NVDA Chat Group topic or a topic for another group entirely depending on who they wish to have reading and responding. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep. ~ Saul Bellow, To Jerusalem and Back

This appears to need
clarification.
I was responding to Sarah's message in which she is
talking about main, not chat groups. I am not a member of Blindtechies but
Blindtech is an active list with a good deal of traffic and a wide range of
technical topics are discussed. I simply wanted to make it clear that,
without knowing about Blindtechies, Blindtech is a good blindness technology
list.
I didn't write what I meant to say in my other
message. I said that blindtechies is much less active. But I should
have said that I don't know anything about that list, I just wanted to discuss
Blindtech.

Gene,
Not a problem. Thread drift often entails some "snow coverage" that makes it difficult to work one's way backward, and it certainly was in my case. -- Brian - Windows 10 Home, 64-Bit, Version 1809, Build 17763 A great deal of intelligence can be invested in ignorance when the need for illusion is deep. ~ Saul Bellow, To Jerusalem and Back
