Cannot open nvaccess.org in Iran
Mohammadreza Rashad
Hello to members of the NVDA list, especially website staff. In recent days, since 2019.1 release, NVDA users in Iran can not open nvaccess.org website. After few researches, I noticed that the nvaccess site is not filtered; but, When we enter the site address, no page will be loaded. Also, we encounter an error when updating NVDA. *** |

So you don't even get an error page?

I wonder if any computer organisations in your country may be able to shed light on this? I thought most people in parts of the world affected by arbitrary site blocking for political reasons, used VPN systems to get around the situation. Brian bglists@... Sent via blueyonder. you could easily use an anti filteration app such as ultrasurf to access the website. use ultrasurf 19.02. if there was something wrong with the website, it shouldn't have been accessed through such apps either. take care. On 4/13/19, zahra <nasrinkhaksar3@...> wrote:

I've also tried to use Freegate, another antifiltering app to open the site or update NVDA, but it failed too. *** |

unfortunately, there's something wrong with Freegate. it doesn't function well in Iran. to give it a try, you can open bbcpersian.com through it, as a result, you'd get the same error you got for nvaccess. you can open nvaccess through Ultrasurf 19.02 or SoftEther VPN Client Manager. I have done it lots of times and got no error at all. all the best. On 4/14/19, Mohammadreza Rashad <mohammadreza5712@...> wrote:

i really dont understand why should i use vpn or any antifiltering software to open nvda website in iran? when i open nvda website, sometimes nvda says problem loading page. sometimes i dont recieve any error message, nvda just says connecting, but when i open bbcpersian.com nvda says that accessing this website is not possible in farsi! whome should i contact and inform about this issue? I would suggest that if you have connectivity problems to certain sites which

other people say are working normally, you should in the first instance contact your Internet Connectivity Provider. If you have any other means of connecting to websites, and can show that you can connect using one provider but not using the other, then this is a clear indication that one of the providers has a problem to deal with, and they cannot say that the problem lies with the site/s you are trying to contact. As my persian friends are telling me your government is blocking the data transfer to many sites outside of Iran. I would bring that up to your blindness organisations in Iran, hoping that they can contact your government convincing them to remove the block for nvaccess.org. That's all you can do if you don't want to use a VPN solution to access the web. Best wishes and blessings, Ralf -----Original Message-----

I doubt that the NVDA site has been blocked.
it is probably on a host, but I'm not sure what the correct word is, that has
been blocked so nothing on that host can be accessed. for example, a lot
of people use Go Daddy to host sites. If Go Daddy were blocked, you
couldn't access The NVDA site. Others with more technical knowledge can
tell the list how you find out who hosts a web site and we may get information
about who the host is for the NVDA site.

In the terminal write whois nvaccess.org I could never get the address right so do not use that unless you are sure. please google for the correct one but only put the domain in for the whois and look through all of the stuff for nv-access never mind. I'm getting a domain not found here. is the whois data base only for the us domains like mine? On 15 Apr 2019, at 5:39, Gene wrote:

In which terminal one should write it? I assume it's not in the CMD, because if I type in it there, I get the dreaded "not a valid command" message. Em 15/04/2019 13:01, Sarah k Alawami
