addons list

Isaac <bigikemusic@...>

Hi, is there a list directed at addons only for nvda?

There is an NVDA add-ons list on Groups.io, https://nvda-addons.groups.io/g/nvda-addons, and on FreeLists, https://www.freelists.org/list/nvda-addons, both of which turned up in the top 5 results of a web search on NVDA Add-Ons.

Brian,
Could you please tell me what's the difference between the groups.io and the freelists add-ons list?
I subscribed to both, the freelists one being the last, so we shall see. However, if you can tell me something about what to expect beforehand...

Cheers,

I'm not Brian but I believe I read somewhere that the Freelists group is no longer active.  If I ever had a choice between a different list serve and Groups.io list serve for the same list. I would assume that Groups.io is the active list or the one being migrated to.  It is the popular list serve for lists composed mostly of blind users and more and more lists are moving to it.

Gene,
Thanks. Exactly as I thought, since as far as I could see, all of the freelists list I subscribed to has a really low traffic. Now it makes sense.

Marcio,

Both Gene and yourself are way more in-tune with the scene surrounding e-mail lists (or at least strict e-mail lists, not a hybrid of list and forum like Groups.io) than I am.

It's interesting, and sometimes unpredictable, as to which lists are still active and where.   It becomes even more difficult to figure out when multiple lists dedicated to the same subject matter area present themselves in one place [there are at least two JAWS groups on Groups.io].

And why there are more than one group for the very same thing is beyond me.
Honestly, if there's a group dedicated to deal with something, unless the other one is a subgroup to deal with another subject on the same topic or something like that, I don't see any reason why people would want it to be this way.
However, they seem to be happy with it, so who am I to disagree?
