How to type Vietnamese on Windows?

Marco Oros

Hi!
Maybe, there are some vietnamese people here.
I have some questions to You. How do You write vietnamese letters with diacritics on Windows 10?
Because It shows me those diacritics separately from letters and not, as letters together with diacritics.
For example, let me write here name of one of one vietnamese instrument.
Original name of this instrument is
Đàn tỳ bà
But, when I have try to write this in vietnamese keyboard, It looks, like this:
đàn tỳ bà
Please, what mistake I do?
Thank You.
Marco

Hi
What Vietnamese Keyboard ,and synthesiser are you using?
Visually, Đàn tỳ bà and đàn tỳ bà will present the same, but the first one written in UniCode, and the second one written by something like Unicode see string, which I don't remember the correct information to describe. If you use Sao Mai VNVoice, then it will read incorrectly so in your Vietnamese keyboard program, the character should be set to "UniCode". Just UniCode, not UniCode along with any words after, then your Vietnamese synthesiser will read correctly.
Hope that help

I use Windows 10 and classical vietnamese keyboard.

But, how to set this program to Unicode, not unicode?

I don't understand It really.

Thank You.

Marco

Hi Marco
I guess you're using the built in input keyboard in Windows, which I see that no Vietnamese people use it, don't know the reason. I suggest you to download and use UniKey, which is a popular Vietnamese keyboard. Get it from https://saomaicenter.org/en/downloads/office/unikey-vietnamese-keyboard
Follow the instruction to download and install, then run it. The first combo box is to choose the character set. Press Home to go to the first item there. NVDA say something like UniCode 1 of 17. The second combo box is to choose input method. Choose whatever you're familiar, then press Enter.
Other program is Gõ Tiếng Việt, which I don't use much. You can search google for it if you want.

Thank You a lot.

Maybe for this thing not prefer Vietnamese people classical Windows keyboard, which I have mentioned in My first message with one word written normally and with Windows keyboard vietnamese layout.
