Synthesizer issues? And searching for one.
Jesse Farquharson
Hello all.
So... I'm trying to download the Nuance vocalizer synthesizer as listed here: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/wiki/ExtraVoices Just the Nuance one, not the Code Factory Eloquence/vocalizer one. I've tried it on two computers, one on NVDA 2019.2 and one on NVDA 2019.1. Both tell me that the Vocalizer demo has expired even though I've never even used it before. Anyone know what's going on? Also, I have been looking for another synthesizer lately. Ivona. Their website simply redirects me to Amazon Polly, so I was wondering if I can still download it somehow, or if I can download Polly, or if I'm completely out of luck. Thanks.

The system used for demos is perhaps the poorest
I've seen. A demo driver is released. It expires on a certain date
and can't be used by anyone. So anyone who downloads the demo driver has
only as much time on the driver as there is for anyone else, no matter when they
downloaded it. You would expect that a demo would work for the downloader
for a certain number of days, then stop or work for a certain amount of time
each time you boot the computer, ten minutes, twenty minutes, then stop.
But this driver expires for everyone on the same day, and you can't run the
voices as a demo until whenever a new demo driver is released.

Hello!

We are in process of adapting the 2.0 and 3.0 drivers of Vocalizer to the new versions of NVDA with Python 3 and speech refactoring... Version 2.0 of Vocalizer is now ready and will be published monday... 3.0 is still being tested. After that, 4.0 will be released and will include a demo period... Regarding IVONA, you can buy a SAPI5 version or a NVDA version.

I can't seem to find them. Can you please link me to them? Also, what's the difference between the two aforementioned versions? SAPI5 vs NVDA?

Hello,

SAPI5 means you can use the voices in more than NVDA. You could also use them in JAWS or Narrator. The ones made for NVDA means you can use them only with NVDA. Greg Wocher

I, too, am interested in purchasing IVONA voices. I've used them with System Access, and they're great. But I didn't think they were available for use with NVDA. So, if someone could provide links, I'd be grateful.

To be honest for what they are, I wouldn't be paying 40 bucks a voice.

The reason I got the code factory voices it was because I got all of them in a package. The next voices I will probably get if I do, are the more expensive acapella infovox data key flash disk if I ever bother again with this. For what I use, eloquence handles a lot of retro games, and vocaliser will handle just about everything else. While its not realspeak solo by any push, at least its 64 bit and compatible with later oses, which is why I bothered in the first place.
