Email client issue

Hi everyone,

When I log into my Windows Live email account, I can scroll through the emails, but I can't get NVDa to read the content of the email. Can anyone help or recommend another email client that I might use, other than gmail?

Thank you!

Gene

I don't think this is an NVDA issue but I'd have to check wwith other screen-readers to be sure.  Whatever the case, I think I can give you the solution.

Windows Live Mail in the ribbon version, doesn't read mail as plain text in the message window.
.  There are two solutions.  One is to continue to read mail as plain text and use the view pane to read mail.  If you don't know how to show the viewpane or how to read mail using it, ask here.
the other solution is to read mail in HTML.  If you do so, you can read mail by opening the message with enter.  If you read mail as HTML, have the view pane off.  If you read mail as plain text, use the view pane for reading mail, as I said.

Hi

Depending how you have it on this machine i have a copy of mozilla thunderbird installed.

Then i have a outlook.com and gmail account of instead of going to the website i have them come down to my computer in thunderbird. I also do not have to muck around with the web interface.

I do have directions up on my accessible email client mozilla thunder bird page on how to do it for a outlook.com and gmail account with directions. you might even find the page handy to do other things if you decide to use thunder bird as your email client.

if it is another online email client you might have to look up the settings?

the page can be found at http://www.accessibilitycentral.net/accessible%20email%20client%20mozilla%20thunderbird.html

I am also using it on windows 10 but will work on previous operating system starting from xp.

hope it helps.

I think there might be a either a audio or written tutorial from the other Gene if he still has it if you still prefer to keep on using the email client you have now.

I do muck with the google web interface a little to handle the spam system and to read html stuff that is in html.

Yes I can make thunderbird do html but thunderbird prompts me about remote content unless I allow it then I get interesting times with my mail and I prefur text if I can to be honest.

Thunderbird seems to be very popular. I'm using windows 7 here and still find that Outlook express is useful, you get three licences for 2-0 Euros for tthe conversion program to run it.
It has one drawback on 10 though, Microsofts major updates trash it, and you need to reinstall. I'd assume that this is not the case with Thunderbird.
