Office 2003 with NVDA 2017.2

Quentin Christensen

Re Peter's message that Rosemary couldn't read, it said "A friend of mine uses Office 2003 and said that it doesn’t work with
the latest version of NVDA, so he has gone back to the previous version."

Re Excel 2003, I did get a log from someone (who confirmed that the cell coordinates setting in document formatting was on, and that log does show errors, so at least we've got something to start looking at.  If anyone else has any odd behaviour to investigate, do feel free to throw it my way (or create an issue on GitHub: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues)

Regards

Quentin.

His message is in English, but the language is set to Danish, so
automatic language switching tries to read it in Danish.

There are two ways to get around this:
1. Turn off automatic language switching in NVDA's Voice Settings
dialog. Disabling that will keep the synthesizer in one language, with
the disadvantage that it won't automatically switch for you if you have
a properly marked up document in multiple languages.
2. Switch to a synthesizer that can't switch languages.

Hi,

Anybody out there using NVDA with Office 2003?

I have a report from one of our users saying that Outlook 2003 freezes
when opening a message. Sorry but at the moment no time available for
gathering logs.

Our solution for now is to reinstall 2017.1 and switch off automatic
updates.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

PS I think its got something to do with UIA being used that causes lock ups in older versions of Office pre 2007.

I have also noticed that any attempt at cursor movement in Word 2003 gives an error sound in snapshots but seems to have no other issue from how it works.

Could someone using Outlook 2003 please file an issue with the exact steps: https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues

Actually, if someone using Office 2003 could test something for me in Excel with NVDA 2017.2 - someone reported that cell coordinates aren't being reported when using the arrow keys to move between cells.  There is a setting in NVDA's document formatting options to report "cell coordinates" which needs to be on.  If someone could confirm whether cell coordinates are reported in Excel 2003 with that setting checked that would be great please!

Kind regards

Quentin.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t work.  It should in my opinion give the option if you have 5 unread  messages in your inbox and your going through your folders and you get to inbox it should say 5 unread.  It doesn’t this is using 2010.
