Hi all. I don’t know if it’s a NVDA problem, but I would really see it’ll be solved. The problem is: when I try to use LibreOffice, it crashes all the time. I can type about four sentences, and then, nothing responds anymore, and after a while, the message: “LibreOffice is not responding.” What’s the problem here, and how can I solve it? I tried to use Apache OpenOffice.org, that haven’t given any troubles yet, but I like the way of use of LibreOffice more than OOo.  Thanks in advance. Kind regards, Jordy. |

Hi Jordy, Do you happen to be using the mouse at all? LibreOffice hangs for me, particularly when I move the mouse over things like the toolbar. If I leave the mouse alone, it behaves. Hi there. I don’t use the mouse (touchpad) itself, but it is possible my hand or arm moves the pointer. You may well be able to turn it off using the
system tray.Â

In the system tray, you will find something related
to the touch pad or the device being used.  Mine says something like
Synaptic pointing device.
Click the icon, you may have to experiment and see
which click works, and you are in a multipage dialog. I almost never have
worked with it but if you shift tab once, you will be in a place where you can
right arrow to see the different pages. Look for device settings. On
mine, it's the last item to the right so I can get there by pressing
end.
Then, if you tab around, you will see an item that
says disable. It's a button. Press the space bar and then tab to and
activate the ok button.Â
You can enable it in the same way. When you
return to that part of the dialog, you will see enable. But to avoid the
inconvenience of repeatedly disabling and enabling it, why not just buy or get
an external mouse and connect it when needed.

I have no idea if the crashing problem is caused by
the touchpad. I suspect things won't be that simple. Windows keeps a
record of every crash and having it looked at may provide the answer if a
technically knowledgeable person looks at it. If the touchpad solution
doesn't work, looking at the records may be the only way to find the
problem.Â

Hi, if you are using Windows 10 just press the Windows key and type touch pad and navigate to the Settings for touch pad you should be then in the touch pad settings and tab to the turn off touch pad.
