you do not unzip the addon. you hit enter on it and nvda asks if you wqant to want to install it and you hit enter on yes.

Doesn't do that on my computer. If I hit enter on a Zip file it opens up a preview of what is in the zip file.

The add on usually isn't sent as a zip file.
You can either change the extension or download it again with another
browser. You might as well just change the extension to what it should
be. It should be nvda-addon

You also can install the addon with the zip extension within the addon manager of NVDA. You only have to tell NVDA that it should search for zip files (*.zip).
