New sounds reverted back to old in next

I notice in the latest snap, apparently reactions to the new sounds were mixed and the intention now is to make them configurable in the long term.

Hello. Regarding the new sounds, what I'd personally like to see is the ability to configure them in the Sounds app, just as you can with other apps. In fact, the Window-Eyes screen reader also had its own section in the Sounds app for configuring sounds
and this is something I'd love to see eventually in NVDA. David Goldfield, Assistive Technology Specialist Feel free to visit my Web site

Hi, NV Access concurs, saying that eventually add-ons should be responsible for doing this in the end. Cheers, Joseph

I'll second this! I'm perfectly happy
with the nvda sounds as they are but if it is possible to have
other sound packs for it as others might like, this is fine. But
I want to be able to use the original ones if I so choose.
Thanks. Roger On 8/1/2017 11:40 AM, David Goldfield wrote:

Hi,
Correct me if I am wrong. But aren’t addons loaded after the startup sound
and unloaded before the shutdown sound? Or is the addon meant to provide an
extended interface for replacing the sounds in the waves folder?
Cheers.

The snag is this. When you install or update you get the old sounds back, but I think once its been put in the folder it will stay there between updates, so all you really need is to have some kind of memory through the updates and replace them thereafter again.

However I thought I read that sounds will be going to another folder eventually so the hacky add on that is there at the moment will need to be altered. Also remember the new sounds were not in Master and were never intended for the next release in any case. Brian bglists@... Sent via blueyonder.
