new sounds are gone
Andre Fisher
Rather than someone send you the zip file, be a bit more independent and download a Next snapshot from a week ago, create a portable copy and go into the waves folder and listen to them. I have them on my computer. If you don’t know how to do this, ask on the group.

I think that if you download the older snap of next prior to the change, unzip it as in a portable version, to a folder, then the sounds are in the waves folder for you to play with.

Seems the simplest way, however, be aware that when you do an update the waves folder in the installed copy is overwritten. Brian bglists@... Sent via blueyonder. Please address personal email to:- briang1@..., putting 'Brian Gaff' in the display name field. ----- Original Message -----

Jamie has said he rather wants to change the logo sound, but I personally feel this would be a mistake also, but I'm open to suggestions for the event sounds.

You need to read the issues trackers on this one. From what I see the intention is to make them configurable, but not yet. I believe there is already an add on to vary them, but since I like the old ones, then I've not tried it.

The first two comments exemplify the difficulty we've encountered with the sounds. Some people love the old sounds and some like the idea of change. The way we had implemented it was simply to replace the sounds, but the feedback we've received indicates that what would suit most users is the ability to choose which sounds to use. So we made the decision to stick with the original sounds for now and in the longer term look at how best to add the ability to change sounds, perhaps similarly to the way addons work. So the short answer is yes, we've reverted to the old sounds and that is what will be in 2017.3, but it doesn't mean we've abandoned the idea. Regards. Quentin. hi
I would rather stay with the older sounds or have the option to add my own.
i did not like the sound of the new ones.
in a funny sort of way the old sound is like the trade mark of nvda.

in the latest NVDA next snapshot the new sounds are gone they put the old sounds back. I liked those new sounds and I hope they keep them for the final 2017.3 and 2017.4 releases.
